Growth Opportunity: Partnership / Performance Incentives Available
We are looking for an experienced Construction Estimator / Project Manager who wants more than just another job.
We are a growing San Diego construction and electrical contractor pursuing commercial, public works, federal, military, and private-sector projects. We are looking for an experienced professional who can help us estimate, win, manage, and grow our construction business.
For the right person, we are open to creating performance-based incentives and a potential partnership opportunity tied to the growth and profitability they help create.
What You'll Do
• Prepare detailed estimates for general construction and electrical projects
• Review plans, specifications, scopes of work, and bid documents
• Perform quantity takeoffs and develop labor, material, equipment, and subcontractor pricing
• Solicit and evaluate subcontractor and supplier proposals
• Prepare competitive proposals and bid packages
• Identify scope gaps, risks, exclusions, and value-engineering opportunities
• Manage awarded projects from preconstruction through closeout
• Develop project budgets, schedules, buyouts, RFIs, submittals, change orders, and billing
• Coordinate owners, general contractors, subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, inspectors, and design teams
• Track project costs, profitability, schedule, and manpower
• Help identify and pursue new construction opportunities
• Develop relationships with general contractors, government agencies, subcontractors, and clients
• Assist with public works, federal, NAVFAC, military, DBE, SDVOSB, and small-business contracting opportunities
• Help establish estimating and project-management systems that allow the company to scale
Ideal Candidate
We are looking for someone with 5+ years of estimating and/or project-management experience in commercial, public works, federal, general construction, or electrical contracting.
Strong candidates will have experience with several of the following:
• General construction estimating
• Electrical estimating
• Commercial and industrial electrical work
• Tenant improvements and renovations
• Design-build construction
• Public works projects
• Federal or military construction
• NAVFAC or other government contracting
• Solar, EV charging, or renewable-energy projects
• Subcontractor buyout and management
• Change-order estimating and negotiation
• Project scheduling and cost control
Experience with estimating/project-management software such as Bluebeam, Procore, PlanSwift, BuildingConnected, Microsoft Project, Excel, or similar platforms is highly desirable.
Knowledge of California construction practices, prevailing wage, certified payroll, public works, and government contracting is a major plus.
Who We're Looking For
This position is best suited for someone who:
• Thinks like an owner, not simply an employee
• Can take a project from bid opportunity to completed job
• Understands both estimating and field execution
• Knows how to protect project margins
• Is comfortable developing subcontractor and customer relationships
• Can work independently and take responsibility for results
• Wants to help build a larger construction company
• Is motivated by the opportunity to participate financially in the company's growth
Growth Opportunity
For an exceptional candidate who can consistently help us generate profitable work, we are open to discussing:
• Performance bonuses
• Profit-sharing
• Project-based incentives
• Business-development incentives
• Long-term growth incentives
• Potential partnership opportunity for the right individual
We are interested in finding someone who wants to build something with us for the long term.
About Us
We are a San Diego-based licensed contractor focused on general construction, electrical, solar/renewable energy, tenant improvements, and public/federal contracting opportunities.
We are actively expanding our relationships with commercial clients, government agencies, general contractors, and prime contractors requiring qualified small-business, DBE and SDVOSB subcontracting partners.
