Class A CDL Driver Qualifications and Pay Information
Required Qualifications
- Hold a valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Have previous tractor-trailer driving experience.
- Maintain an acceptable driving record and safety history.
- Meet applicable DOT medical qualification and drug and alcohol testing requirements.
- Be dependable, professional, and committed to safe driving practices.
- Be available for flexible, on-call assignments, with work scheduled according to available loads.
- Understand that weekly work is not guaranteed because load volume varies.
Preferred Qualifications
- Mechanical knowledge of commercial trucks and tractor-trailers.
- Familiarity with pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
- Ability to recognize and report potential mechanical problems.
- Experience with regional freight routes in California, Arizona, and Nevada.
Mechanical knowledge is preferred but not required. All qualified, experienced drivers are encouraged to apply. Retired and semi-retired drivers are welcome.
Pay Structure and Route Rates
Drivers are paid by the round-trip load, not by miles traveled. Pay rates depend on the driver's over-the-road experience.
**Round-trip routes:**
- Victorville, CA, to Reno, NV, returning to Victorville: up to $400.
- Victorville, CA, to Phoenix, AZ, returning to Los Angeles or Downey: up to $400.
- Ontario, CA, to Phoenix, AZ, returning to Los Angeles or Downey: up to $400.
- Victorville, CA, to Casa Grande, AZ, returning to Los Angeles or Downey: $425.
- City of Industry, CA, or Brea, CA, to Reno, NV, returning to Victorville: up to $500.
**Local runs:**
- Victorville to Victorville or Apple Valley: $50.
- Victorville to Fontana or Ontario, CA: $75.
Pay and Load Requirements
- Payday is every Friday.
- Drivers must submit all required bills of lading (BOLs) and fuel receipts.
- Approximately 99% of loads are power-only, so drivers do not handle freight.
- Approximately 20% of loads are live unloads.
- Load assignments and availability vary; weekly work is not guaranteed.
- The applicable rate and payment terms should be confirmed before accepting an assignment.
Equipment and Routes
- Company tractor-trailer provided.
- Regional routes throughout California, Arizona, and Nevada.
- Home time is approximately every other day, depending on route and dispatch schedules.
