We are seeking a hands-on Senior Accountant / Controller to lead day-to-day accounting operations for a growing multi-unit restaurant organization in the Pittsburgh area. This role is ideal for an accounting professional who enjoys owning the details, improving processes, and partnering closely with ownership to deliver accurate, timely, and actionable financial information.
The ideal candidate will bring strong restaurant or hospitality accounting experience along with hands-on knowledge of Compeat and/or Restaurant365 (R365).
Key Responsibilities
Oversee daily accounting operations for a multi-unit restaurant business
Manage the full Accounts Payable process, including invoices, payment scheduling, aging, and vendor relationships
Prepare monthly financial statements, management reports, and account reconciliations
Lead the month-end and year-end close processes
Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, payroll, and general ledger activity
Monitor cash flow and support weekly cash management and payment planning
Review AP aging and provide recommendations on vendor payments and cash needs
Maintain accurate general ledger accounts and financial records
Analyze key restaurant metrics, including food, beverage, labor, inventory, and operating costs
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning
Strengthen accounting procedures, internal controls, and overall financial processes
Partner with ownership and management to provide clear financial analysis and reporting
Coordinate with outside accountants, tax advisors, banks, and vendors
Support payroll and other accounting or administrative functions as needed
Requirements
Qualifications
5+ years of accounting experience, preferably within restaurant or hospitality
Experience as a Controller, Assistant Controller, Accounting Manager, or Senior Accountant preferred
Hands-on experience with Compeat and/or Restaurant365 (R365) strongly preferred
Strong background in Accounts Payable and monthly financial reporting
Experience preparing and analyzing restaurant financial statements and P& Ls
Solid understanding of restaurant accounting, including prime costs, labor, food and beverage costs, and inventory
Advanced proficiency in Excel, QuickBooks, and accounting systems
Experience with restaurant POS and payroll systems is a plus
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred

Restaurant and/or hospitality industry experience is essential, and experience with Compeat and/or Restaurant365 will be a major advantage.
