Description
We're partnering with a respected and growing organization in the Albany area that is seeking an Accounting Manager to lead day-to-day accounting operations and help drive the next phase of growth. This role offers a blend of hands-on accounting, team leadership, and strategic involvement, making it ideal for someone who enjoys both managing the details and contributing to the bigger picture.
This isn't a role where you'll simply review work and attend meetings. The Accounting Manager will be a key member of the finance team, partnering with leadership to improve processes, strengthen reporting, and ensure the organization has the financial information needed to make informed decisions.
What You'll Do:
Lead the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes
Manage the general ledger, account reconciliations, and financial reporting activities
Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance and professional development
Review journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and supporting documentation
Assist with the preparation of budgets, forecasts, and cash flow reporting
Partner with department leaders to provide financial analysis and operational support
Coordinate external audits and work closely with auditors, tax advisors, and other external partners
Evaluate and improve accounting processes, controls, and reporting efficiencies
Ensure compliance with accounting policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
Support special projects, system implementations, and organizational initiatives as needed
Salary Range: $95,000 - $120,000
Requirements
What We're Looking For:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
5+ years of progressive accounting experience
Prior experience leading projects, mentoring staff, or managing a team
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting principles
Proficiency with accounting software and advanced Excel skills
Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution
Preferred Qualifications:
CPA preferred but not required
Public accounting experience is a plus
Experience working in a multi-entity, project-based, manufacturing, nonprofit, or service-oriented environment is a plus
Why Consider This Opportunity?:
Competitive compensation and benefits package
High level of visibility with senior leadership
Opportunity to influence processes and drive improvements
Stable organization with long-term growth plans
Collaborative culture that values initiative and new ideas
Clear path for continued career progression within the finance organization
