Description
We are looking for a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our team in Indianapolis, Indiana in a Contract to Permanent position. This entry-level opportunity is well suited for someone who is eager to build accounting skills in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and can apply sound judgment while following established procedures. The ideal candidate is comfortable working with technology, pays close attention to accuracy, and can manage transactional work efficiently without sacrificing quality.
Responsibilities:
Review and process a high volume of financial transactions with a strong focus on accuracy and timeliness.
Support accounts payable activities by entering invoices, assigning correct coding, and preparing vendor payments.
Investigate billing or payment inconsistencies, identify root causes, and help resolve outstanding issues.
Perform bank and account reconciliations to ensure records are complete and aligned.
Follow established accounting procedures while using logic and careful judgment to flag unusual items or potential errors.
Collaborate with internal team members and external vendors to answer questions and support smooth daily accounting operations.
Requirements
Associate's or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field is preferred.
Exposure to accounts payable, bookkeeping, administrative support, customer service, internships, or other business-related work is preferred.
Ability to use Microsoft Excel and learn business systems in a technology-driven environment is preferred.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to handle transactional work efficiently and accurately.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment handling complex scenarios.
Good problem-solving skills and sound judgment when reviewing discrepancies or exceptions.
