Casa de Amma is seeking a passionate, experienced Head Chef/Food Service to lead our Food Service Program. This individual will play a key role in creating & delivering originally healthy, nutritious, appealing, & tasty meals in a WARM & WELCOMING environment that encourages social connection, comfort, & a sense of belonging. Casa de Amma is a unique, supportive residential apartment community serving adults with special needs. Our goal is to offer a life-enriching experience that supports independence, dignity & personal growth - & food/healthy meals play an important role in our residents' health & daily living.
The Head Chef will be responsible for:
-Prepare & cook meals in a licensed kitchen & onsite dining area for approximately 47 residents.
-Plan weekly menus that are healthy, seasonal, & appealing, accommodating dietary needs as necessary.
-Responsible for grocery shopping & food supply purchasing to maintain adequate inventory & provide meals as planned.
-Ensure a clean, safe & compliant kitchen environment following all Federal, State & local health regulations & Casa de Amma protocols. This includes cleaning & mopping; overall maintaining a clean, organized, & properly sanitized kitchen & dining area.
-Maintain food safety logs & ensure all procedures meet regulatory standards.
-Must be able to work COLLABORATIVELY & respectfully with both staff & residents to promote a positive, welcoming, & inclusive mealtime environment.
Qualifications:
-Prior experience as Head Chef/Food Service. Experience w/ the special needs' population is a plus.
-Passion for healthy, whole-food cooking & community-based food service.
-Strong organizational skills & the ability to plan, prepare & serve multiple meals daily. Must be flexible as things constantly change.
-Knowledge of food safety standards & regulations.
-A Valid CA Driver's License w/ a clean driving record & auto insurance as we utilize company vehicles is a must
-Ability to pass DOJ/FBI fingerprinting, background checks & drug screening as we are a drug/alcohol free facility.
