Retrograde Coffee Roasters is hiring a production coffee roaster to work part time at our coffee roastery. Our coffee roastery is located in Petaluma at Barn 5400 in a warehouse environment. The production coffee roaster is responsible for roasting and scaling coffee; and assisting the in the production flow of the coffee roaster. Our team at the roastery is small, with one production assistant, 2 production coffee roasters and the Director of Coffee (co-owner) working 2-3 days a week. Please note this is not a customer facing position. Experience is required.
Work days are: Monday + Thursday 7 am - 3:30 pm
16 hours a week total - must be available for both days and entire work day.
Potential for extra hours during busy season - we also roast on Wednesdays from 9 am - 3 pm

Key responsibilities
o Follow proper health code procedures at all times
o Correct operation of computer software, make minimal errors
o Assess inventory of green coffees, scale green coffee to be roasted
o Roast coffee following precise roast curves, maintain roast logs
o Participate in regular coffee cuppings and tastings
o Tally online, wholesale, and retail orders to create daily roast schedule with accuracy
o Prepare labels and apply labels properly to coffee bags
o Scale, package and seal roasted coffee for retail, online, and wholesale orders
o Operate equipment such as scales, scaling machine, bag sealing machine safely
o Package online orders accurately
o Maintain and clean roasting equipment with daily, weekly, and monthly schedules
o Put away deliveries - must be able to lift ~50 lbs and stand (outside of breaks)
