Additional hours will be required to include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays. This job is not suitable for remote work and is expected to work regular on-site hours. Travel may be required.
This position is designated as an Administrative Officer and serves without a fixed term and at the pleasure of the President, pursuant to Regents Rule 20102 and the University’s Handbook of Operating Procedures 1-1020, “Officers of Administration.”
Purpose
To lead, train and instruct in the area of in-venue production for Texas Athletics.
Responsibilities
- Direct or produce in-venue productions for various sports such as basketball, baseball, football, soccer, softball, track and field and volleyball. Orchestrate content load-in, checks and rehearsals. Ensure quality productions when others are directing by providing instruction and constructive feedback. Coordinate all videoboard production needs for internal entities such as marketing, communications, events, IT and all creative and athletics staffs, as well as external entities such as Daktronics, FUSE, Musco, etc.
- Facilitate and communicate content requests to ensure each game production has all the needed elements for a first-class production
- Collaborate with the creative, videoboard and broadcast staffs to ensure innovative content inside of Texas Athletics’ venues. Serve as the primary videoboard production liaison for Longhorn Sports Properties (Learfield) and Texas Athletics.
- Develop and mentor students, part-time employees, professional service contractors and full-time employees. This includes employees who work in control rooms and on-site in venues. Ensure staffing for all in-venue videoboard productions between full-time athletics staff, students, freelancers and third-party vendors meets requirements.
- Provide operational support of in-venue/digital signage and associated electronic components and provides support for live event technical setup and management of operations systems.
- Assist with video production and post-production as needed.
- Drive a UT or rental vehicle on and off campus.

Required QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Communications, Visual Arts, Sports Management or related field. Three or more years of professional experience in live or in-venue event production. Excellent organizational, problem-solving and communication skills. Ability to challenge the status quo while still maintaining the integrity of a brand. Experience training students and freelance staff. Experience with video switchers, graphics platforms, and LED displays. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.
Preferred QualificationsExtensive professional experience in intercollegiate athletics or professional sports. Experience managing students and freelance staff. Operational knowledge of Ross Xpression graphics platform, Ross switchers, and Daktronics displays.
Driving RequiredThis job requires a class "C" operator's driver's license. The applicant selected must provide a current three year driving record from the current state of residence. If not currently a Texas resident, a Texas driver's license must be obtained within 30 days of becoming a Texas resident. Employees who are required to have a CDL are subject to drug and alcohol testing (pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, return-to-duty, and follow-up drug and alcohol testing).
