Essential Job Duties:
The primary purpose of the Professional Accountant is to provide assistance to the department. The primary duties include processing journal entries, interdepartmental transfers, vouchers, auditing program closeouts as well as auditing division financial transactions. The Professional Accountant will work with many @types of funds which includes general funds (state appropriated and appropriated receipts), auxiliary and sales and services funds, and foundation and agency. Also provides business office staff coverage and assistance with the deposit process. Specifically,
Auditing Office of Professional Development program closeouts.
Auditing NC State Continuing and Lifelong Education financial transactions.
Process journal entries, small purchase vouchers, interdepartmental transfers, and coordinate data collection for large purchase order requisitions.
Assistance with check deposit process, as needed.
Provide business suite staff coverage.
Other Work/Responsibilities:
Other duties as needed.
Required Qualifications:
Knowledge and experience using PeopleSoft Financials and HR systems, or similar systems/software.
Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets in an accounting/financial capacity.
Excellent understanding of accounting rules and procedures including the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles ( GAAP )
Effective time management and strong organizational skills
Ability to understand, analyze and interpret university spending guidelines related to various funding sources
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently
Analytical skills
Excellent customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications:
At least 1 year experience using PeopleSoft Financials and HR system
