The Direct Support Professional (DSP) plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with disabilities. This position involves providing compassionate care and support to clients in various settings. The DSP will assist clients with daily living activities, promote independence, job coaching and ensure a safe and clean environment while adhering to all relevant regulations, including HIPAA.
Responsibilities:
• Assist clients with daily living activities such as personal hygiene, dressing, and mobility.
• Prepare meals and assist with meal planning to meet dietary needs.
• Maintain a clean and organized living space for clients.
• Provide companionship and engage clients in social activities to promote mental well-being.
• Document client progress and report any changes in behavior or health to the appropriate personnel.
• Support clients in accessing community resources and participating in recreational activities.
• Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations while providing care.
• Support clients on job sites.
• Assist clients on their job.
• Communicate with supervisors/coworkers.
Experience:
• Previous experience in a nursing home or group home setting is preferred.
• Background in social work or related fields is a plus.
• Familiarity with working with individuals with disabilities is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and commitment to maintaining client confidentiality is essential.
• Skills in meal preparation and cooking are beneficial for assisting clients with their dietary needs.
• A caring attitude, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively within a team are critical for success in this role.
