Empire Workforce Solutions is hiring an Operations Supervisor for a well known Warehouse Distribution Company located in the City of San Bernardino
Duration: Start ASAP through the end of Q4 (12/31/26)- may potentially become FT, depending on performance
Shift: 2nd 12:00pm - 8:30pm Monday - Friday
Pay Rate: $30 / hr.
Shift Differential: + $1.00 while working 2nd shift
Job Description - The Supervisor Operations positions provide direction across various operational departments, leading team members to ensure customer requirements are achieved while meeting our internal and external goals and objectives. Supervisors must have strong communication, interpersonal and leadership skills to assist with overseeing multi-level associates within the warehouse. Proven warehouse experience required, as this is a working supervisor. Solid understanding of taking a proactive approach to fostering conflict resolutions, leading to a safe and healthy work environment is necessary. Must be able to adapt and thrive within all work schedules/hours, based on business needs.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
People
• Establish and sustain that all associates are on-board appropriately, trained, competent, and understand how their work relates to the Hybrid business model and all customers' business objectives
• Establish and sustain performance productivity standards; communicate specific and measurable daily, weekly and monthly goals.
• Monitor attendance, productivity, and other performance standards and provide coaching and counseling to Associates with Management and Human Resources
• Motivate and engage Associates by focusing on team accomplishments and recognition
• Build effective relationships with all associates, supporting functional areas and Traffic department for optimal ship windows and order readiness.
• Develop teams by building bench strength through, training, coaching and mentoring key roles by departmental functional areas (SME, Leads)
• Must be proficient in systems and ability to train others that ultimately helps build bench strength and critical process adherence across the Distribution Center
Operations
• Supervise logistics operations inclusive of picking, packing and overall production, waving/order planning, inventory accuracy, quality and outbound shipment accuracy and quality.
• Conduct daily stand-up team meetings to review workload, current day, next day and overall monthly performance expectations.
• Evaluate and recommend changes (continuous improvement) observations in preferred work methods to increase productivity of warehouse operations.
• Assist in new associate on-boarding and training inclusive of temp training/cross-training across functions.
• Provide relief coverage for operational duties when associates utilize time-off or are absent from the shift or other supervisors.
• Have a thorough working knowledge of the site's operating systems CIMS/VPS/Routing Portals, to assure order management accuracy and shipment optimization.
• Complete all necessary records and reports in a timely and accurate fashion
• Execute to productivity measurements, daily metrics and department/shift handoffs.
• Weekend work or late hours as required, depending on business needs.
• Other responsibilities and tasks as assigned by your manager or supervisor.
Finance
• Ensure compliance with financial policies and procedures such as inventory accuracy and put away procedures, returns, damages, etc.
• Understand the relationship between decisions and impacting profitability
• Closely manage Associates’ working hours and activities to minimize overtime and to meet or exceed productivity targets that impact on budget
Safety
• Ensure day-to-day supervision and associate activities are aligned with the location safety strategy
• Provide associates with communication, training, feedback, and direction to ensure safe performance
• Conduct safety inspections and report on observations.
Growth/Customer Experience
• Understand specific customer requirements & objectives to meet and exceed these expectations daily
• Root cause customer chargeback and RCA conducted so that we can eliminate issues moving forward and commitment to meet our objectives
• Support all chargeback resolution activities and efforts as a priority
• Excellent customer service and communication within the 4 walls of the distribution center as well as externally.
Assets/Fleet/Equipment
• Properly plan work assignments to ensure effective use of warehouse equipment (PIT)
• Work with hourly associates to ensure they understand safe and efficient operation of equipment
• Identify need for equipment inspection or repairs and notify management
• Utilize red tag/lockout procedures
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• 2 - 4 years related functional experience, in a Warehouse environment.
• High School Diploma or equivalent work experience, required
• Strong written/oral communication skills and the ability to actively listen, required in English.
• Advanced computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and email etiquette with Outlook
• Must demonstrate ownership & responsibility to help run the operation with a sense of urgency
• Must have ability to connect and build rapport/relationships with associates and external customers at all levels
• Must have ability to work efficiently with time management and organizational skills, focusing on priorities
• Ability to manage through a problem and think and make decisions independently up to an approved level.
• Ability to drive process improvement and lead change
• Experience with inventory management and WMS system, preferred
• Regular, predictable, consistent attendance records are an essential function of the job
• Read, communicate verbally and/or in written form, remember and analyze/understand certain information, instructions and guidelines
• Bilingual (Spanish/English), preferred
• Ability to write legibly
• Must have basic math, computer, and data entry skills
• Ability to communicate in a professional and positive manner
• Demonstrated ability to lead others to complete work requirements
• Must have attention to detail
• Must be a Team Player
