Immediate Opening: Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Technician

BiomedRx is seeking a dependable, skilled, and customer-focused Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Technician (BMET) for an immediate opening based in Southern California.
This is a field-service position requiring frequent travel throughout Southern California, the American Southwest, and the Hawaiian Islands. The ideal candidate is technically capable, organized, professional in clinical environments, and comfortable working independently while representing BiomedRx at customer locations.
Position Summary
The Biomedical Equipment Maintenance Technician will inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, calibrate, and perform preventive maintenance on a variety of medical and healthcare-related equipment. The technician will travel regularly to hospitals, clinics, medical offices, laboratories, long-term care facilities, and other customer sites.
This position requires reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, flexibility for overnight assignments, and the ability to travel by air to Hawaii and other service locations as needed.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventive maintenance, safety inspections, performance verification, calibration, troubleshooting, and repairs on biomedical and clinical equipment.
Diagnose electrical, electronic, mechanical, software, battery, connectivity, and accessory-related equipment problems.
Review equipment condition and determine whether repair, replacement, escalation, or manufacturer support is required.
Complete service reports, inspection records, repair documentation, asset updates, and other required paperwork accurately and on time.
Maintain clear records of labor, parts, travel, equipment status, and corrective actions.
Communicate professionally with clinical staff, facility managers, administrators, vendors, manufacturers, and other service personnel.
Follow manufacturer service procedures, customer requirements, infection-control practices, and applicable safety standards.
Verify that serviced equipment is safe, functional, properly labeled, and ready for clinical use before returning it to service.
Coordinate field schedules, travel arrangements, equipment access, replacement parts, tools, and follow-up visits.
Maintain and safeguard company tools, test equipment, service documentation, and customer property.
Escalate equipment concerns that may affect patient safety, regulatory compliance, or continuity of care.
Support special projects, equipment inventories, incoming inspections, recalls, installations, relocations, and facility-wide maintenance programs.
Represent BiomedRx with professionalism, integrity, responsiveness, and respect at every customer site.
Required Qualifications
Education, training, or hands-on experience in biomedical equipment technology, electronics, electrical systems, mechanical systems, medical device servicing, field service, or a closely related discipline.
Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot equipment systematically and identify root causes.
Working knowledge of basic electronics, electrical safety, mechanical systems, batteries, power supplies, sensors, cables, connectors, and common test equipment.
Ability to read service manuals, schematics, technical bulletins, inspection procedures, and manufacturer documentation.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to produce accurate, complete, and professional service documentation.
Strong organizational and time-management skills.
Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and manage a changing field-service schedule.
Professional appearance and conduct appropriate for hospitals and other healthcare environments.
Basic computer skills and the ability to use email, mobile applications, electronic service records, spreadsheets, and computerized maintenance management systems.
Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record.
Reliable transportation suitable for frequent regional travel.
Ability and willingness to travel regularly throughout the American Southwest.
Ability and willingness to travel by air to the Hawaiian Islands.
Availability for overnight travel, early-morning assignments, occasional weekend work, and schedule changes when customer needs require them.
Ability to safely lift, move, position, or assist with medical equipment and service tools, with reasonable accommodation where applicable.
Legal authorization to work in the United States.
Preferred Qualifications
The following qualifications are helpful but not required for every applicant:
Associate degree, certificate, military training, apprenticeship, or formal coursework in Biomedical Equipment Technology, Electronics, Electrical Engineering Technology, or a related field.
Previous experience as a BMET, biomedical technician, medical equipment technician, electronics technician, field service technician, or clinical engineering technician.
Experience servicing equipment in hospitals, clinics, laboratories, rehabilitation facilities, skilled nursing facilities, or other healthcare settings.
Familiarity with preventive maintenance programs, electrical safety testing, calibration procedures, asset management, and service documentation.
Experience using electrical safety analyzers, patient simulators, infusion pump analyzers, defibrillator analyzers, pressure meters, multimeters, tachometers, or other biomedical test equipment.
Familiarity with healthcare accreditation, regulatory, and documentation expectations.
Manufacturer certifications or industry credentials such as CBET, CRES, CABT, or similar qualifications.
Experience coordinating service across multiple customer locations.
Experience working directly with clinicians and healthcare administrators.
Travel Requirements
This is not a stationary bench-technician position. Regular field travel is an essential part of the job.
Candidates must be prepared to:
Drive frequently throughout Southern California and the broader American Southwest.
Use their reliable transportation for assignments when required.
Travel by commercial airline to service locations in Hawaii.
Stay overnight when assignments cannot reasonably be completed in a single day.
Transport tools, test equipment, replacement parts, and service materials.
Maintain timely communication regarding schedules, delays, customer access, and assignment completion.
Travel frequency and assignment duration may vary according to customer needs.
