Healing Heroes Foundation is seeking an experienced, highly connected Executive Director to lead the development and launch of two new assisted living facilities while overseeing the organization’s existing programs, properties, and business initiatives.
This is a hands-on leadership opportunity for someone with extensive experience in the assisted living industry who understands how to take a facility from the planning and licensing stages through opening, occupancy, and successful ongoing operations.
Primary Focus: Assisted Living Development
The Executive Director’s top priority will be to lead the development, licensing, opening, and stabilization of two new assisted living facilities.
The ideal candidate will have:
• Significant professional experience in assisted living, residential care, senior living, or a related healthcare environment
• A strong network of assisted living administrators, operators, consultants, referral partners, healthcare professionals, and industry contacts
• Direct experience opening, licensing, managing, or expanding assisted living facilities
• Knowledge of assisted living regulations, licensing requirements, inspections, staffing standards, resident care requirements, and operational compliance
• An Assisted Living Administrator license or the qualifications to obtain one, strongly preferred
• Experience recruiting or identifying qualified facility administrators and key operational staff
• A proven ability to build census, develop referral relationships, and establish a facility within the local healthcare and senior-services community
Key Responsibilities
Assisted Living Development and Launch
• Lead the planning and development of two new assisted living facilities from pre-opening through full operations
• Coordinate with architects, engineers, contractors, consultants, licensing agencies, healthcare professionals, and other project partners
• Oversee licensing applications, inspections, approvals, policies, procedures, and regulatory compliance
• Assist with facility design and operational planning to ensure the properties meet licensing and resident-care requirements
• Develop startup budgets, operating projections, staffing plans, timelines, and implementation strategies
• Recruit, evaluate, and manage assisted living administrators, caregivers, support staff, and outside consultants
• Establish operational systems for admissions, resident services, staffing, scheduling, documentation, safety, and quality assurance
• Create relationships with hospitals, rehabilitation centers, case managers, social workers, physicians, home-health agencies, senior-service organizations, and other referral sources
• Develop marketing, outreach, referral, and occupancy strategies
• Support the facilities through opening, initial admissions, census growth, and operational stabilization
• Identify opportunities for additional assisted living locations, partnerships, acquisitions, or related senior-care services
Executive Leadership and Organizational Management
• Provide overall leadership and strategic direction for Healing Heroes Foundation and its related programs and business initiatives
• Work closely with the Board of Directors, property owners, consultants, investors, community partners, and other stakeholders
• Translate organizational goals into clear operating plans, budgets, timelines, and performance expectations
• Manage multiple projects and business initiatives simultaneously
• Establish internal systems, policies, procedures, controls, and accountability standards
• Supervise employees, contractors, house managers, administrators, and program partners
• Monitor financial performance, operating expenses, occupancy, revenue, cash flow, and organizational sustainability
• Assist with budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, vendor management, contracts, and cost controls
• Identify and pursue new revenue opportunities, partnerships, grants, donations, referral relationships, and community resources
• Represent the organization professionally at meetings, inspections, networking events, community presentations, and industry functions
• Provide regular progress reports to organizational leadership and the Board
Existing Programs and Properties
• Provide oversight and strategic support for Healing Heroes Foundation’s existing sober-living and housing programs
• Evaluate occupancy, resident referrals, property operations, staffing, marketing, and financial performance
• Strengthen relationships with hospitals, treatment centers, veterans’ organizations, courts, social-service agencies, recovery organizations, and community referral partners
• Ensure properties are operated safely, professionally, and in accordance with applicable rules and organizational standards
• Develop strategies to improve occupancy, community awareness, referral activity, and financial sustainability
Business Development and Special Projects
• Assist with the evaluation and development of additional organizational businesses, properties, partnerships, and investment opportunities
• Conduct research, prepare business plans, review financial projections, and coordinate with outside professionals
• Identify qualified operators, administrators, consultants, vendors, and strategic partners
• Negotiate and manage professional relationships, contracts, and project expectations
• Help determine which opportunities align with the organization’s mission, financial goals, and long-term strategy
Preferred Qualifications
• At least 7–10 years of senior leadership or operational experience in assisted living, residential care, senior housing, healthcare, or a closely related field
• Demonstrated experience opening, licensing, operating, or expanding an assisted living facility
• Existing relationships within the assisted living and senior-care industry
• Assisted Living Administrator license strongly preferred
• Experience hiring, managing, or working directly with licensed administrators
• Strong knowledge of regulatory compliance, inspections, resident admissions, staffing, and facility operations
• Experience developing referral networks and increasing facility occupancy
• Executive-level experience managing budgets, employees, vendors, projects, and outside professionals
• Strong financial, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently, take ownership, and move complicated projects forward
• Experience working with nonprofit organizations, veterans, recovery programs, housing programs, or community-service organizations is a plus
• Bachelor’s degree preferred; advanced degree or relevant professional credentials are a plus
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is an experienced assisted living professional who brings both operational knowledge and meaningful industry relationships. This individual should know how to navigate licensing, identify qualified administrators, establish referral partnerships, recruit a strong team, and successfully open and fill assisted living facilities.

Compensation
Compensation will be based on experience, qualifications, industry relationships, licensing credentials, and the candidate’s ability to successfully develop and launch the assisted living facilities.
Performance-based compensation or incentives may also be considered.
