The Opportunity

A well-established Organization in Pomona, CA is seeking a strategic, highly organized, and operationally focused leader to serve as Executive Director, Technology, Operations & Strategy. This newly created position will act as the operational backbone of the technology organization and a trusted right-hand partner to the Chief Digital and Information Officer.

The Executive Director will bring structure, visibility, and accountability to budgeting, procurement, vendor management, project and portfolio governance, policy management, reporting, and departmental operations. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned technology-operations leader who enjoys turning strategy into execution and helping an organization scale.

Important profile note This is not a deeply hands-on engineering role. Success will come from leadership, business acumen, financial stewardship, project governance, executive communication, and disciplined execution.

What You Will Do

Serve as a trusted advisor and operational partner to the CDIO, helping translate strategic priorities into coordinated plans and measurable results.
Lead IT budgeting, forecasting, procurement, purchasing processes, expense visibility, and financial reporting.
Own vendor-management practices across selection, contracting, renewals, performance, spend, risk, and relationship governance.
Establish and improve project and portfolio governance, including intake, prioritization, resourcing, milestones, dependencies, status reporting, and escalation.
Coordinate IT policy development, ownership, approvals, review schedules, communication, and compliance tracking.
Develop dashboards, KPIs, executive presentations, and operating cadences that improve accountability and decision-making.
Partner with technology leaders and stakeholders across the organization to coordinate cross-functional initiatives and resolve barriers.
Support the continued growth and maturity of a technology organization of approximately 22 employees, expected to expand to about 30.

What You Bring

Seven or more years of progressively responsible experience in operations, administration, project or portfolio management, business management, or organizational leadership.
Strong experience managing budgets, financial planning, procurement, vendor relationships, and operational processes.
Demonstrated success supporting a CIO, CDIO, senior executive, or technology leadership team.
Experience leading complex cross-functional initiatives and influencing stakeholders at multiple levels.
Exceptional organizational, analytical, written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Ability to balance strategic thinking with hands-on execution, strong judgment, and consistent follow-through.

Preferred

Experience in a CIO office, technology organization, IT PMO, technology business-management function, or portfolio-governance environment.
Knowledge of project portfolio management, governance, organizational performance measurement, and executive dashboards.
PMP, Lean, Six Sigma, ITIL, Prosci, or a related professional certification.
Experience in higher education, nonprofit, healthcare, government, or another complex stakeholder environment is helpful but not required.
