Position Summary:
The Director of Digital Marketing will be responsible for managing the Athletics Department’s email marketing automation strategies and digital advertising strategy to increase fan engagement and revenue. This position will support work across the entire athletic department by producing email and digital advertising deliveries and managing the department’s email and advertising communications calendar, specifically as it relates to ticketed sports (football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, volleyball and soccer). Additional responsibilities include WMT website management.

The university fields 16 varsity teams (6 men's teams and 10 women's teams, a total of 351 student athletes), 14 of which compete in the Southeastern Conference.
Key Functions and Expected Performance:
Managing the Athletics Department’s email marketing automation strategies and advertising strategy to increase fan engagement and revenue
Oversee the digital marketing strategy for the department specifically as it relates to ticketed sports (football, men’s and women’s basketball, baseball, volleyball and soccer)
Includes, but not limited to, collaborating on social media advertising, out of home, OTT and other forms of digital advertising options
Responsible for emails on behalf of the Athletics Department
Remain current on email marketing best practices including automation, nurturing campaigns, data capture, a year-round calendar/planning, and reporting
Various types include but aren’t limited to sales emails, fundraising emails, student emails, informational emails, and more
Conceptualizes and oversees the creation of all digital marketing materials
Collaborate with other areas of interest (i.e. communications, video, graphic design, etc.) to execute digital marketing materials
Manages elements of website relationship with WMT and management of contents
Regularly status check with WMT on various items related to website and partnership
Update various landing pages on various areas of vucommodores.com to keep fans involved and aware of all things Athletics
Manage applicable department budgets
Other duties as assigned by the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing
Supervisory Relationships:
This position reports administratively and functionally to the Associate Athletics Director for Marketing.
Education and Certifications:
Experience and Skills:
Minimum 3+ years of previous experience in sports marketing is necessary.
Previous experience in Division I collegiate or professional sports marketing is preferred.
Previous experience with digital marketing is strongly preferred.
Previous experience working with an email platform such as Oracle Eloqua, and Adobe Creative Suite is strongly preferred.
Organized, detail oriented and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision is necessary.
Proactive thinking with interest in developing and executing new ideas to better improve the brand is necessary.
Ability to work a non-standard work week including nights, weekends & holidays is necessary.
