The Role:
This position in the Department of Theatre & Film is expected to teach existing introductory and advanced Film courses in film production. Faculty are expected to advise students; contribute to the department/program; engage in scholarship appropriate to their field; and provide service to the University, the community and their profession. Faculty will integrate CWU's vision, mission, and values and create a learning environment that fosters student success and institutional excellence.
Minimum Qualifications
- MFA or terminal degree in filmmaking or production
- Some college-level teaching experience
- Willingness to teach a wide range of courses at all levels and modalities
- Teaching, research, service or other experience that has prepared the candidate to contribute to CWU's commitment to the engagement of students from a variety of backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications
- Three or more years of collegiate level teaching experience
- Demonstrated teaching and scholarship/creative activity in Film Production, Cinematography, Editing, and/or Screenwriting
- Documented experience as a filmmaker
- Experience or interest in mentoring students from a variety of backgrounds.
- Documented experience in curriculum development and leading/leading a program area
- Experience with Learning Management Systems such as Blackboard or Canvas
- Ability to incorporate Diverse perspectives and issues into curriculum and classroom conversations.
- Experience working in a collaborative environment and/or utilizing a variety of teaching methods designed for broad student success.
