About Hot Diggity Dog Resort
Hot Diggity Dog Resort has been Escondido's boutique pet care destination since 2012 — 16 private suites, small-group daycare, grooming, training, and an on-site vet clinic. We're owner-operated, with both owners holding professional credentials in pet care (Certified Professional Dog Trainer and Certified Pet Nutritionist). We're not a national chain, and we like it that way.
About the Role
A year from now, you'll have a loyal client base who books with you by name, a full and well-managed schedule that respects your time, and a role on a small, supportive grooming team that mentors rather than competes. We're investing in fixing the scheduling and workflow issues that make grooming stressful elsewhere — this role is part of that reset, not a repeat of it.
What You'll Do
● Own a full grooming book — baths, full grooms, breed-specific styling, and nail/ear/anal gland services for dogs of all sizes and temperaments
● Build lasting relationships with clients who request you specifically
● Maintain a safe, sanitary, well-organized grooming station and equipment
● Communicate clearly with pet parents about their dog's coat, skin, and any health observations
● Partner with the bathing team and front desk to keep the day's schedule realistic and on track
● Mentor newer team members as they grow into full grooming roles
What We're Looking For
Required:
● 3+ years of professional dog grooming experience, including full grooms on multiple breeds
● Comfort and confidence handling anxious, senior, or high-energy dogs safely
● Reliable, punctual, and able to manage a full daily schedule
Preferred:
● Experience with breed-specific styling and hand-scissoring
● Fear Free or pet first aid / CPR certification
● Experience mentoring or training newer groomers
Compensation + Benefits
$24–$27/hour base, plus client tips (our groomers typically earn several dollars per hour in tips on top of base). A written path to $27–$28/hour at 90 days based on objective performance benchmarks — not a vague promise, a real number we track weekly and share with you.
