We are looking for a detail-oriented Senior Analyst, Finance (Insurance) to support a broad range of accounting and finance activities, including journal entries, reconciliations, investment accounting, and investment property portfolios, with transactions recorded in SAP S/4HANA. This role combines elements of both controllership and finance, offering exposure beyond traditional investment accounting and providing a strong foundation for growth within insurance finance.

A CPA designation or progress toward completion is an asset. Consolidates, analyzes, and reports on the financial performance of the business / group to support the month-, quarter-, and year-end closing process, including financial reporting and financial governance. Supports an efficient and effective accounting function that uses common information sources and practices, reduces ongoing costs, and increases service level performance.
3 Supports the execution of strategic initiatives; includes tracking metrics and milestones.
3 Builds effective relationships with internal/external stakeholders.
3 Breaks down strategic problems, and analyses data and information to provide accounting insights and recommendations.
3 Identifies opportunities for alignment with accounting / finance processes and other operational processes.
3 Acts as point of escalation on operational matters and matters falling outside of policy.
3 Analyzes financial results to support financial period closing and reporting processes and provide insights and recommendations.
3 Gathers and formats data into regular and ad-hoc reports and dashboards for assigned legal entity, business, or group financial information packages.
3 Supports the preparation of journal entries, monthly / quarterly reporting packages and financial statements, including applicable tax payments and reconciliations, in accordance with accounting rules and standards.
3 Provides information and supports the process for internal (e.g. corporate and SOX) and external audits.
3 Reviews supporting documentation, escalating areas of concern and making any necessary amendments.
3 Coordinates and executes specific activities for the implementation of strategic initiatives; includes tracking metrics and milestones.
3 Executes routine tasks (e.g. service requests, transactions, queries, etc.) within relevant service level agreements.
3 Organizes work information to ensure accuracy and completeness.
3 Collaborates with internal and external stakeholders to deliver on business objectives.
3 Develops knowledge related to business / group accounting requirements and standards.
3 Focus is primarily on business/group within BMO; may have broader, enterprise-wide focus.
3 Exercises judgment to identify, diagnose, and solve problems within given rules.
3 Works independently on a range of complex tasks, which may include unique situations.

Qualifications:
3 Typically between 4 - 6 years of relevant experience and post-secondary degree in related field of study or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
3 Completed or near completion of an accounting designation.
3 Technical proficiency gained through education and/or business experience.

Salary:
$61,600.00 - $113,900.00

Salaries will vary based on factors such as location, skills, experience, education, and qualifications for the role, and may include a commission structure. Salaries for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on number of hours regularly worked. For commission roles, the salary listed above represents BMO Financial Group27s expected target for the first year in this position.
