PopPostor Entertainment is hiring a Documentary Video Editor Intern for a remote position based out of Colorado Springs, Colorado. This role sits inside the post-production workflow of an independent entertainment company documenting the full build of KIT, its first K-pop-inspired girl group, producing documentary-style content across YouTube long-form and short-form social platforms. It suits early-career editors who want real assembly-to-delivery experience on an ongoing unscripted series rather than spec work or student projects.
About the Role
The post team is being built as three distinct editor positions covering assembly cuts, story editorial, and social media finishing, so each person works a defined part of the documentary post-production workflow rather than doing everything alone. The footage covers auditions, training, group formation, and music production, which means editors are cutting real unscripted material with genuine narrative arc across episodes. A typical day involves organizing raw footage, building or refining cuts, and syncing with the broader creative team on episode structure.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble rough cuts from raw documentary footage, syncing clips and building initial episode structure for review by the story editor.
- Refine pacing across interview and confessional footage to develop emotional throughlines consistent with the unscripted series format.
- Create platform-specific exports for TikTok, Instagram Reels, YouTube Shorts, and long-form YouTube, adapting cuts to the technical and pacing requirements of each platform.
- Add captions, motion graphics, and sound design elements during the finishing stage to meet social media content standards.
- Maintain organized project files and folder structures that support a collaborative remote editing workflow across the full team.
- Participate in creative planning sessions to align on episode structure, pacing decisions, and series tone.
What You Bring
- Foundational experience cutting documentary, unscripted, or long-form video content at any level.
- Working knowledge of at least one professional editing application, including CapCut, Premiere Pro, DaVinci Resolve, or Final Cut Pro.
- An understanding of social media editing trends and platform-specific formatting requirements for short-form content.
- Strong instincts for story pacing and the ability to identify the editorial moments that carry a scene.
- Ability to communicate clearly and meet deadlines while working fully remote without on-site supervision.
Why This Role
PopPostor is building this entertainment brand from the ground up, which means editors here have genuine input into the visual identity of the series rather than inheriting a locked style guide. This is an unpaid internship with flexible hours, structured to give editors portfolio pieces across both long-form documentary post-production and short-form social content. For someone building credits in unscripted editorial, the scope of material here is broader than most entry-level placements.
