Position Title
DETECTIVE
Summary: Gathering facts and collecting evidence to solve or uncover information. Complex investigations: sex crimes; child, elderly, and animal abuse; violent, cyber, and juvenile crimes; high-profile investigations.
Duties
- Work as a team member with other detectives
- Initiate and follow up on assigned investigations
- Interview victims, complainants, witnesses and suspects
- Detail report writing Specialized Training (will be provided)
- In-Depth investigations
- Interviewing
- Logistical operations for investigations
- Writing of affidavit of probable cause, affidavit warrants, and search warrants
- Continuing education, keeping up with new technology, investigative skills and legal updates.
Qualifications
- Superior performance, integrity, problem-solving skills, and an understanding of law enforcement procedures and Louisiana laws.
- Strong investigative skills, critical thinking, sound judgment, and the ability to handle complex cases.
- Organized and detail oriented.
- Currently assigned to Criminal Operations (does not include Communications or CIU), with 1 year of law enforcement experience. Law enforcement experience from other agencies will be considered.
- No disciplinary suspensions within the last 6 months; all other disciplinary or corrective actions will be reviewed.
