About the opportunity
Ranch Events is a long-established San Diego catering and events company. We're growing and continuing to modernize how we operate, and we want to bring on someone early in their career to grow right alongside us.
This is not a narrow, do-one-thing job. You'll work side by side with our owner, general manager, and sales team, and over time you'll touch nearly every part of the business. If you're a hard-working recent grad, or new in your career and want to build a broad set of real-world skills instead of being boxed into a single lane, this may be the opportunity for you to gain experience in how a real business runs and to build a foundation you can take anywhere.
We'll teach. You'll absorb. And the more you take on, the more this role grows into something bigger.
What you'll do
You'll spend your time helping the owner and general manager run the day-to-day business, supporting the sales team, and pitching in across marketing, finance, and operations. Here's what that looks like.
Operations and administration
Support the owner and general manager with the day-to-day running of the business
Keep shared files, trackers, and calendars organized
Assist with business licenses, permit applications and renewals, and similar business operations tasks
Coordinate with vendors and handle whatever else comes up day to day
Get a real, hands-on education in how a business actually operates
Sales and consultant support
Enter new leads, prospects, and booked events into our pipeline tracker and Caterease, and keep records accurate and current
Prepare proposals, contracts, and follow-up materials at the direction of the sales consultants
Handle clerical and data-entry work for the sales team so consultants can focus on selling
Learn how relationship-driven event sales works by supporting the team day to day
Marketing and social media
Work alongside our external social media manager, making sure they get strong event content and the right material to keep our channels active
Bring a good eye for social and advise on which photos and videos to capture at events
If you turn out to love it, there's a path to take social media over entirely down the road
Help keep marketing materials, menus, and online listings up to date
Finance and accounts receivable
Assist with accounts receivable, including tracking outstanding balances and following up on collections
Help prepare and send client invoices
Support basic bookkeeping and financial data entry
Process and documentation
Shadow team members across the business to learn how the work gets done
Document those processes into clear written procedures (SOPs)
Help build the training materials we use to onboard future hires
Who we're looking for
We're looking for someone hungry. The kind of person who notices what's broken and wants to fix it, asks why things are done a certain way, and isn't here just to clock in and out. If you're early in your career, learn fast, and want real responsibility instead of busywork, this is for you.
Organized and detail-oriented, with a knack for staying on top of things
Comfortable with everyday tech: email, spreadsheets, and social platforms
Dependable and self-motivated, happy to wear a lot of hats
A clear, confident communicator
Recent grad or early-career welcome. We'll take hustle and a good attitude over a long resume.
Nice to have
