About the Opportunity
This isn't a transactional purchasing role. It's an opportunity to become a key partner to Engineering, Manufacturing, and Operations in a company where custom solutions are the norm—not the exception.
You'll help source the components and materials that bring engineered products to life, working directly from drawings, specifications, and BOMs to identify suppliers, secure pricing, and ensure critical materials arrive on time. From evaluating new vendors to strengthening existing supplier relationships, you'll have a direct impact on product cost, lead times, and overall business success.
Position Overview
We're looking for a Sourcing Specialist who combines technical curiosity with strong supplier management skills. This individual will work closely with Engineering to understand product requirements and source the materials, components, and assemblies needed to support both standard products and highly customized customer solutions.
This is a highly visible role with significant interaction across Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Supplier partners around the world.
What You'll Do
- Review engineering drawings, BOMs, and product specifications to identify required materials and components
- Source new suppliers and manufacturers for mechanical, electrical, and electromechanical components
- Manage supplier relationships across both domestic and international markets
- Solicit and evaluate quotations, lead times, capabilities, and supplier performance
- Negotiate pricing, terms, and delivery schedules
- Issue purchase orders and monitor supplier commitments to support production schedules
- Partner closely with Engineering on custom designs, alternate components, and value-engineering opportunities
- Identify cost-saving initiatives and supply chain improvements
- Evaluate and qualify new suppliers to support growth and reduce sourcing risk
- Resolve supplier-related issues involving quality, delivery, or availability
- Maintain accurate purchasing, sourcing, and supplier records within ERP systems
What You Bring
- 5+ years of sourcing, purchasing, procurement, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, BOMs, and technical specifications
- Experience sourcing mechanical, electrical, industrial, or engineered components
- Strong negotiation and supplier relationship management skills
- Experience working with both domestic and international suppliers
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
