THE ROLE
The Senior Designer will be a core member of Nécessaire's small, cross-disciplinary creative team, responsible for developing assets across campaigns and channels that uphold and advance the brand's design standards. This role works closely with the Executive Creative Director — bringing ideas to the table, executing with a high degree of craft and ownership, and with demonstrated success, gaining more creative responsibility over time.
This role reports to the Executive Creative Director and is based in New York City. We require employees to work in the office near Union Square, Tuesday–Thursday.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Collect and organize a wide range of inspiration; design, motion graphics, and photography, on an ongoing basis to ensure our team is always thinking ahead.
- Design prolifically, on tight and sometimes overlapping timelines. We are looking for a designer who can handle volume and a high level of quality.
- Develop design systems for channels like Social, Web, Advertising, and Email, and execute a wide variety of final deliverables within those systems which portray our brand as premium, and outstanding in our category.
- Work collaboratively with writers, video editors, marketers, product designers and more. Everyone on the team is responsible for ensuring that all of our work meets the brand’s quality standards.
- Imagine expansively, take feedback in stride, and develop your knowledge of the industry and our competitors, to build a strong sense of personal taste, category expertise, and the ability to propose truly innovative ideas.
QUALIFICATIONS
- 6+ years of professional graphic design experience, with a strong portfolio demonstrating brand, digital, and social design work.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and Figma.
- A working understanding of responsive web design — how layouts, typography, and assets adapt across screen sizes and devices, and how design decisions affect the online experience.
- A sharp eye for typography, color, and composition — and the ability to work within and evolve an established visual system.
- Experience working across campaign and evergreen creative, from concept through execution.
- Strong communication and project management skills — this role requires as much clarity in how you work as in what you make.
- A portfolio of professional work is required for all applicants.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Demonstrated experience designing for beauty, skincare, and/or luxury brands is a plus.
- Proficiency in motion graphics and/or print graphic design are nice to have.
[Salary Range $100,000–$130,000]
