Job Summary The Chief Operating Officer (COO) Provides Executive
leadership to ensure the mission, vision and values of Syringa Hospital
& Clinics (SHC) are fulfilled. The COO is accountable for leading and
implementing strategic and operational direction across clinic
operations and ancillary services throughout the organization. This role
is in close partnership with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and the
Leadership Team to ensure the delivery of high-quality, patient-centered
care, achievement of financial and operational goals, and the
development of strong, accountable leaders.
In addition, the COO serves as a visible and engaged leader within the
organization and the broader community, fostering trust, collaboration,
and positive relationships with staff, providers, community partners,
and stakeholders. The COO represents SHC in community forums,
professional settings, and strategic partnerships, reinforcing the
organization\'s commitment to service excellence, accessibility, and
community health.
**Essential Job Functions:**
Provide executive leadership to support the growth and sustainability of
the organization through identification, evaluation, and development of
new business opportunities and service lines.
Develop and implement business strategies that enhance market share,
operational performance, and financial strength while aligning with the
organization\'s mission and values.
Serves as the primary executive responsible for day-to-day operation
oversight of hospital and clinic services, ensuring safe, efficient and
patient-centered care delivery.
Oversee clinic operations in partnership with the Chief Medical Officer
(CMO) ensuring alignment between operational performance, clinical
quality, provider eficiency and patient experience.
Provide executive oversight of the following operational and ancillary
service areas:
- Clinic Operations-front office operations, patient access and
scheduling
- Imaging/Radiology
- Rehab Services: (Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech
Therapy)
- Laboratory
- Pharmacy Retail Operations
- Dietary/Nutritional Services
- Environmental Services (EVS)
- Facilities Management
- Leading capital planning, facilities planning, and major capital
projects, including hospital modernization, renovations, equipment
acquisition, and infrastructure improvements, while keeping the CEO
and Leadership Team informed of progress, risks and outcomes.
- Oversee facilities operations and maintenance, ensuring regulatory
compliance, safety, operational efficiency, and long-term asset
stewardship.
- Direct supply chain and materials management, including purchasing,
inventory control, vendor management, and cost containment
strategies to ensure availability, quality, and fiscal
responsibility.
- Provide oversight of contract management, including evaluation,
negotiation, compliance monitoring, and performance management of
vendor, service, and professional agreements.
- Lead initiatives focused on cost streamlining, operational
efficiency, and expense management while maintaining quality, safety
and service standards.
- Oversee grant management and grant-funded initiatives, including
operational alignment, compliance, reporting, and sustainability
planning in collaboration with finance and leadership teams.
- Develop and manage integrated, strategy-aligned departmental work
plans that support organizational priorities and measurable
outcomes.
- Identify, lead, and participate in process improvement initiatives
that enhance workflow efficiency, improve the patient and employee
experience, and strengthen operational effectiveness.
- Create and foster an organizational culture that upports employee
engagement, satisfaction, productivity, accountability, and
continuous improvement.
- Communicate key operational, financial and marketing information to
stakeholders across all service areas, including managed care
trends, competitive dynamics, cost management, and customer focused
services.
- Participate in organizational strategic planning, including
financial forecasting, market assessment, business development,
branding strategy and operational prioritization.
- Oversee implementation of assigned strategic goals, initiatives, and
action plan, ensuring accountability and measurable results.
- Represent the organization with business partners, community
leaders, regulatory bodies, and the public as required to advance
organizational initiatives and relationships.
- recommend, develop, and implement policies, procedures, systems, and
organizational structures that improve efficiency, effectiveness,
compliance, and long-term organizational performance.
- Ensure all operational activities comply with applicable
accrediting, licensing, regulatory, and legal requirements governing
healthcare organizations.
- Serve on hospital committees and perform special projects as
assigned by administration submit a monthly operational report to
the Board of Trustees.
**Minimum Requirements**
