Position Summary
The Production Supervisor oversees daily food manufacturing operations to ensure safety, quality, efficiency, and regulatory compliance. This hands-on leadership role manages production teams, supports production goals, and drives continuous improvement in a fast-paced environment. The position partners closely with Quality Assurance, Warehouse, Maintenance, and Sanitation teams to ensure smooth operations and consistent product standards.
Key Responsibilities
· Lead daily plant operations including production, packaging, sanitation, and maintenance
· Ensure compliance with food safety regulations (FDA, USDA, HACCP, GMP)
· Manage production schedules to meet customer demand and optimize labor and equipment utilization
· Monitor and report KPIs such as yield, downtime, labor efficiency, and quality metrics
· Enforce company policies, GMPs, safety procedures, and food safety standards
· Implement and maintain safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment
· Coordinate with Quality Assurance to support audits and maintain consistent product quality
· Oversee inventory control and raw material usage
· Develop, coach, and mentor team members, fostering accountability and performance
· Drive continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma principles
· Collaborate with Procurement, Logistics, Maintenance, and R&D teams as needed
Qualifications and Education
Required:
· 5+ years in food manufacturing with supervisory experience, or 7+ years in manufacturing with at least 2 years in a lead or supervisory role
· Strong knowledge of food safety standards and quality control processes
· Proven leadership and team management skills
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities
· Proficiency in Microsoft Office and production management systems
· Experience working in facilities requiring BRC or SQF certification
Preferred:
· HACCP certification
· Experience with Lean Manufacturing and/or Six Sigma methodologies
· Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Manufacturing, or a related field
· Schedule Requirements
· Ability to work second shift during weekdays
· Flexibility to work limited Saturdays as business needs require
Work Environment
· Manufacturing production-floor environment
· Frequent standing and walking throughout the shift
· Exposure to varying temperatures, wet or slippery surfaces, and food allergens
· Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and adherence to sanitation standards
· Occasional lifting or moving of materials up to 45 pounds
Compensation
The pay range for this role considers multiple factors including skills, experience, certifications, and business needs. A reasonable estimate of the current range is $85,000 – $100,000 per year.
