Primary Responsibilities
A Route Specialist is an individual who specializes in organizing, managing, and growing routes for pest control services while also actively engaging in sales development activities. They possess a comprehensive understanding of route planning, customer needs, and sales techniques to drive business growth and maximize service utilization.
The Route Specialist’s activity in the organization is inclusive of but not limited to the following:
ROUTE MANAGING | The route specialist is responsible for planning the most optimized routes for service visits. They take into account factors such as geographic proximity, traffic patterns, and customer scheduling preferences to ensure efficient and timely service delivery. The route specialist continuously reviews and optimizes existing routes to improve efficiency and minimize travel time.
SALES PROPOSALS | The route specialist prepares and delivers proposals to potential customers, showcasing the benefits and value of the pest control services. They create proposals, negotiate contracts, and close sales deals. They have a strong understanding of the features and benefits of the services offered and can effectively communicate them to customers.
SALES PERFORMANCE | The route specialist tracks sales metrics, such as conversion rates, customer acquisition and retention. They identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement to enhance sales effectiveness and achieve revenue targets. The route specialist actively seeks opportunities to generate new business by identifying potential customers and reaching out to prospects. They may participate in marketing campaigns, attend networking events, or collaborate with the sales team to promote the pest control services and acquire new clients.
CUSTOMER RELATIONS | The route specialist builds and maintains strong relationships with existing customers. They proactively communicate with customers to address their needs, upsell additional services or treatments, and ensure customer satisfaction. They may also schedule regular service visits and provide recommendations for preventive measures.
PROBLEM SOLVING | In cases of unexpected events or disruptions, such as traffic congestion or service emergencies, the route specialist acts as a problem solver. They make adjustments to ensure minimal disruption to service delivery.
TEAM COLLABORATION | The route specialist works closely with the sales team to align sales efforts with service delivery. They coordinate with the general manager to ensure they are aware of sales promotions, upsell opportunities, and any specific customer needs that may impact service delivery or sales potential.
Accountability
Responsibilities of the Route Specialist will be tracked by the following:
Weekly - Check-in sessions with the Pest Supervisor
Weekly - Keep track of scoreboard
Complete the One Sheet for planning, progress, and accountability
Undergo annual performance review
Licensing & Training
Licensing: Branch 2 is preferred, however Applicators is acceptable
Experience and training: (mandatory) Must have at least 2 years of pest control experience

Work Environment
The role of a Route Specialist isn't an easy one. While you will have a great deal of autonomy, you will be responsible to represent the company at the highest level and adhere to the company procedures.
This can be a stressful position with a great deal of responsibility. You might find yourself in the trenches with other team members and leaders.
You will have daily interaction with clients and realtors. On a regular basis you will be interacting with the service division, growth division, and operations division.
Physical Requirements
Able to carry up to 50 lbs.
Ability to climb a ladder, stairs, and mount roofs without balance concerns.
Ability to lift 20 lbs overhead.
Endure long hours of standing, climbing stairs, crawling in crawlspaces and attics, and driving.
Have vision that is good or correctable to 20/20.
Hearing ability that is adequate to detect rodent infestation in a house.
Ability to work in houses that contain allergens such as pets, molds, fragrances, plants, etc.
Must maintain physical condition and weight that does not create a safety hazard by exceeding weight limits of ladders, or prevent access to most confined spaces in a house.
Work Schedule
Being a Route Specialist is a full-time position. You will work regular hours which may include Saturdays, early mornings, and late evenings.
Compensation
Base Salary: $based on experience + sales commission
Status: Non Exempt
