A Direct Support Professional supports individuals with disabilities or special needs in achieving greater independence and quality of life. Key Responsibilities: Assist individuals with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, grooming, and meal preparation
Provide support with mobility and transportation to appointments, work, or social activities. Administer medications as prescribed (if certified/trained). Monitor and document client progress, behaviors, and health status. Support individuals in developing life skills (communication, budgeting, social skills). Encourage participation in community activities and social interactions. Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment. Follow care plans and report any changes to supervisors or healthcare professionals.
Respond appropriately to emergencies or behavioral challenges. Qualifications: High school diploma or GED (required); additional training or certification preferred. Experience in caregiving, healthcare, or human services (preferred but not always required)
Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Compassion, patience, and reliability. Ability to pass background checks and drug screening. CPR/First Aid certification (often required or provided after hire).
