Role Description The Photography Assistant will support the lead photographer in all stages of photo shoots, including studio setup, breakdown, and on-site production. This full-time, on-site role in Washington, DC involves preparing equipment, managing lighting setups, organizing backdrops and props, and assisting with client positioning to ensure efficient and professional sessions. The assistant will help manage files, perform basic image selection and organization, and support retouching workflows as needed. Additional responsibilities include maintaining a clean and organized studio, coordinating with clients upon arrival, and ensuring that sessions run on schedule. The role may also include occasional administrative support such as tracking gear, assisting with shoot logistics, and communicating clearly with clients and team members.
Qualifications
- Strong foundational skills in Photography, including familiarity with cameras, lenses, and studio workflows.
- Experience with Lighting, including basic studio lighting setups and an understanding of natural and artificial light.
- Proficiency in Image Editing and Photo Retouching using tools such as Adobe Lightroom and Photoshop.
- Excellent Communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally and respectfully with clients and team members.
- Ability to stand for extended periods, lift and move equipment safely, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- High attention to detail, strong time-management skills, and reliability in meeting schedules and deadlines.
- Prior experience assisting in a photography studio or on professional shoots is preferred but not required.
