Network & IT Support Specialist
Washington, DC Metro | Hybrid (with periodic remote flexibility)
About the Role
We're looking for a sharp, proactive Network & IT Support Specialist to keep our infrastructure humming and our people productive. You'll own the full lifecycle of our network and end-user environment — from designing and deploying solutions to keeping security tight and users happy — and you'll play a direct role in supporting our litigation teams by provisioning war rooms and trial technology suites for high-stakes cases. If you love solving real problems, thrive in a fast-moving, hands-on environment, and take pride in rock-solid execution when the pressure is on, this role is for you.
What You'll Do
Network & Infrastructure
- Administer and optimize LAN and wireless networks, ensuring high availability and performance across the office and client environments.
- Manage all network hardware — routers, firewalls, switches, and UPS systems — and stay ahead of maintenance and upgrade cycles.
- Monitor network performance, generate reports, and proactively resolve issues before they impact the business.
- Research, evaluate, and procure network products, services, and standards; negotiate with vendors and contractors to secure the best value.
End-User Support
- Serve as the go-to resource for all IT matters — providing friendly, timely first- and second-level support for local and remote staff.
- Install, configure, and troubleshoot workstations, laptops, peripherals, and network-based printers.
- Use imaging software to build and maintain standardized system deployments.
- Deliver clear, practical IT training so employees can work confidently and independently.
Security & Compliance
- Manage security solutions including firewalls, anti-virus, and intrusion detection systems, keeping defenses current and effective.
- Develop, document, and enforce IT policies, procedures, and disaster recovery plans.
- Assist with hardware transport and on-site provisioning at client or courthouse locations within the Washington, DC area as needed.
Litigation War Rooms & Trial Technology
A key part of this role is supporting high-stakes litigation engagements — both in-office and at external venues including courthouses, hotels, and opposing counsel facilities. You will work closely with the litigation support and trial teams to ensure technology is battle-ready when it matters most.
- Plan, provision, and deploy on-site and off-site litigation war rooms, including workstations, secure networking, printers, and AV equipment tailored to the demands of active trial teams.
- Configure and maintain trial technology suites — display systems, document presentation hardware and software, video conferencing, and real-time transcript feeds.
- Coordinate equipment logistics for courthouse and remote trial locations, ensuring gear is tested, packaged, transported, and operational ahead of critical deadlines.
- Provide hands-on technical support during trial preparation and active proceedings, serving as the on-call IT resource for the litigation team.
- Troubleshoot and resolve technology issues rapidly in high-pressure trial environments where downtime is not an option.
- Maintain and document war room build standards and equipment inventories to ensure repeatable, reliable deployments.
What You Bring
Education & Experience
- Associate's degree in IT, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience. We value real-world skills as much as credentials.
Technical Skills
- Strong working knowledge of TCP/IP networking fundamentals.
- Experience administering Active Directory — user accounts, group policies, and permissions.
- Comfortable configuring and troubleshooting routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
- Hands-on experience with network security tools (firewalls, IDS/IPS, anti-virus platforms).
- Familiarity with imaging and deployment tools for workstation standardization.
- Ability to logically diagnose and resolve issues across hardware, software, and network layers.
- Experience supporting litigation, trial technology, or AV/presentation environments is a strong plus.
Communication & Problem-Solving
- You communicate clearly — whether you're explaining a technical issue to a non-technical colleague, writing a procedure manual, or presenting to a group. You're resourceful, calm under pressure, and able to work through ambiguous situations with limited guidance.
Certifications (Preferred)
- CCNA, CompTIA Security+, CompTIA A+, and/or CompTIA Network+. Relevant experience without these certifications will also be considered.
Physical Requirements
- This role is primarily desk-based, with occasional need to lift and transport equipment (up to 25 lbs). Some travel to client sites or courthouses within the Washington, DC area is required.
Compensation & Benefits
- We offer a competitive package designed to reward performance and support your wellbeing.
- Base salary starting at $70,000, commensurate with experience.
- Annual performance bonus program.
- Monthly phone, travel, and expense budget.
- Company-paid holidays and paid time off.
- Medical and dental insurance.
- 401(k) retirement plan.
