Job Summary:
Diesel Mechanic JR will perform regular preventive maintenance and minor repairs on vehicles owned by National Construction Rentals, Inc. (NCR). Additionally, help Midlevel Mechanic or Sr. Mechanic in executing more intricate mechanical repairs on NCR vehicles and equipment. Ensure adherence to local, state, and federal regulations concerning vehicle and equipment maintenance and safety. This position does not involve supervisory duties.
Essential Functions:
- Conducts routine preventative maintenance on NCR vehicles, including but not limited to: lubrication of automotive equipment such as chassis, oil and filter changes, gearbox fill or drain and flush, wheel bearing packing, and all other necessary lubrication procedures.
- Assists Mechanic and/or Sr. Mechanic in overhauling, rebuilding, and replacing major and minor assemblies and components.
- Ensures vehicle operational safety by verifying functions such as brakes, clutch, lights, mirrors, wipers, tires, etc.
- Changes and repairs tire and performs battery service as needed.
- Installs antifreeze and services cooling systems by filling, draining, flushing, and inspecting/replacing hoses.
- Performs minor repairs including replacement of lights, spark plugs, and ignition parts.
- Safely operates all necessary tools and equipment required for assigned duties.
- Drives service truck for parts pickup and provides roadside service as required.
- Adheres to all safety regulations and wears personal protective equipment as necessary.
Education and/or Experience: High School diploma or GED certificate (GED). 1+ year experience in the repair and maintenance of commercial trucks or equivalent certified training/education.
