The Feminist Bookstore is seeking a creative, organized, and detail-oriented part-time team member to support bookstore operations while contributing design, publishing, marketing, and project coordination work for affiliated businesses including Ritual Red and Jaded Ibis Press.
This hybrid role combines bookselling, creative production, publishing support, and operational coordination in a feminist, literary, and community-centered environment.
Schedule:
Wednesday–Friday
12:00 PM–6:00 PM
Part-time, in-person in San Diego (potential to add one additional 6 hour day per week pending demand)
Responsibilities
Bookstore Operations
- Clerk and manage day-to-day bookstore operations
- Welcome customers and support a warm, inclusive community atmosphere
- Process sales using Square POS
- Assist with merchandising, displays, and event support
- Help maintain organization and visual presentation throughout the space
- Familiarity with feminist literature and ability to suggest inventory orders is ideal
Creative & Publishing Support
- Update and maintain WordPress websites
- Design social media graphics and posts using Canva
- Support visual consistency across brands and projects
- Help develop promotional materials as needed
NICE TO HAVE:
- Create brand identity assets and logo designs
= Assist with book interior layout for Jaded Ibis Press with InDesign
Events & Operations
- Assist with client education and promotional event concepts
- Coordinate vendors and project timelines
- Support operational organization across multiple creative businesses
- Help manage workflows, communications, and administrative tasks
Software:
Candidates should have proficiency in several of the following:
- Adobe Photoshop
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe InDesign + InCopy
- Canva
- WordPress + Framer
- Kenko CRM
- Google Workspace
- Square POS
- Social media and marketing platforms
