Desert Mountain Club, one of the most beautiful and largest private country clubs in North America, is seeking an Assistant Director of IT to join our leadership team!
In this role, you will be responsible for for providing support and maintaining technology infrastructure across all operational divisions of our private golf club and residential community. Reporting to the Director of IT, this role helps ensure reliable technological operations across point-of-sale systems, golf management software, food and beverage operations, agronomy systems, and core business platforms. The position supports integration across hospitality systems, helps maintain data integrity, and contributes to technology initiatives that enhance the member experience and improve operational efficiency. In addition, this position oversees and provides leadership to the IT Manager, Networking and IT Manager, Applications, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and IT standards.
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7 years of experience in IT support, systems administration, or a related role, with proven experience managing POS systems and SQL databases. They should possess a strong understanding of system integrations, networking, and application management, along with demonstrated leadership and project management experience. Experience within a hospitality, country club, resort, or private club environment is preferred. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are required, along with a proactive, self-starter mindset and strong self-motivation. A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Information Systems, or Computer Science is required.

Responsibilities
- Develop and embrace a positive, professional, and energized culture for the employees that is focused on creating special and memorable experiences for members and guests.
- Oversee and mentor IT Manager – Networking and IT Manager – Applications, support professional growth and development.
- Oversee team priorities and workload, performance evaluations, goals, and KPIs across networking and applications functions.
- Responsible for performance management of the team, including performance evaluations, goal setting, training needs, and recognition.
- Manage day-to-day operations for core technology systems, including POS, golf course management, member portal, food and beverage systems, and agronomy applications.
- Manage and maintain network infrastructure, servers, workstations, mobile devices, printers, and peripheral equipment across clubhouse, golf operations, maintenance facilities, and administrative areas.
- Ensure optimal performance and uptime of systems through proactive monitoring and maintenance.
- Manage relationships with technology vendors, service providers, and consultants (e.g., TotalE, Agilysys) to facilitate support, upgrades, and implementations.
- Negotiate and manage contracts, service agreements, and licensing terms.
- Manage technology budgeting and procurement, including operating and capital planning and capital equipment purchases.
- Maintain accurate inventory of all hardware, software licenses, and technology assets.
- Implement and maintain business continuity and disaster recovery procedures to ensure data integrity and business resilience.
- POS: Administer POS terminals and related services, including payment processing and inventory management.
- Golf Operations: Administer tee time, handicap, and tournament management systems, golf cart fleet management tools, and lesson booking platforms.
- Food & Beverage: Administer restaurant POS, online ordering, kitchen printing/display systems, reservation tools, and inventory controls.
- Agronomy/Course Management: Administer irrigation control systems, weather monitoring equipment, telemetry software, and specialized agronomy applications.
- Administer the private club web portal and member communication platforms in partnership with Marketing and Communications.
- Plan and deliver technology projects (upgrades, migrations, and new implementations), including scope, timelines, resourcing, and change coordination.
- Evaluate enterprise technology solutions and recommend process improvements.
- Coordinate with department heads (e.g., F&B, Golf, and Spa) to understand technological needs and align system capabilities with operational requirements.
- Oversee major club software initiatives, including research, recommendations, and coordination of implementations and upgrades.Manage integrations between POS, ERP, CRM, and third-party platforms (e.g., ForeTees, Group Valet, OpenTable, and Sage).
- Ensure data accuracy and synchronization across systems to support member experience and reliable downstream reporting.
- Configure and oversee payment processing systems, including PCI-DSS compliance reporting.
- Enforce cybersecurity best practices for POS and database environments.
- Maintain Power BI dashboards for POS transactions, inventory, and revenue metrics in coordination with third-party vendors, as needed.
- Build custom reports and queries as needed to meet specific departmental objectives.
- Provide actionable insights to Finance and Operations teams using POS and database data.
- Track reporting KPIs (e.g., transaction accuracy and data completeness) and summarize trends for Finance and Operations.
- Develop and maintain role-based training programs and support documentation (including reference guides) for staff on club technology systems, with emphasis on POS workflows and related best practices.
- Evaluate emerging POS technologies and database solutions for potential adoption.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Physical Requirements & Working Conditions
- Standard office hours, Monday-Friday, with rotating evening and weekend on‑call support for critical system issues, and occasional after-hours work required for projects, system maintenance, and special events.
