Schedule: 32-40 hours per week, must be flexible. Please do not apply if you can only work 2 specific days per week.

Role Responsibilities:
We are hiring a Direct Support Professional to provide behavioral support to adult consumers with developmental disabilities and a documented history of physical aggression. This position works under an individualized Behavior Support Plan (BSP) developed by the consumer's interdisciplinary team and requires the physical capability to safely execute approved crisis intervention protocols.
Essential Functions:
-The person in this position must be able, with or without reasonable accommodation, to:
-Provide direct, continuous one-to-one support to an assigned adult consumer during scheduled shifts, including during community outings, personal care routines, and behavioral episodes.
-Implement the consumer's Behavior Support Plan, including antecedent strategies, replacement behaviors, and reinforcement procedures.
-Execute all program approved physical intervention techniques, including two-person stabilization and emergency holds, on adult consumers weighing more than 200 pounds, in accordance with prescribed staff-to-consumer weight and positioning ratios, per the program plan.
-Maintain physical positioning and active monitoring within arm's reach of the consumer for the full duration of assigned shifts, including during periods of agitation or escalation.
-Respond to physical aggression, including hitting, kicking, biting, and grabbing, while continuing to apply approved de-escalation and intervention techniques.
-Sustain physical exertion during a behavioral episodes, including controlled movement, blocking, and approved restraint application.
-Document interventions, behaviors, and ABC data in real time and at end of shift.
Physical Demands:
This position requires sustained physical demands that exceed those of standard direct support roles. The person in this position must be able to:
-Stand, walk, and remain in active proximity to the consumer for entire shift length.
-Execute and sustain approved physical interventions for the duration of a behavioral episode.
-Move quickly to block, redirect, or stabilize an adult consumer in motion.
-Withstand the physical forces involved in receiving and responding to attempted strikes during a behavioral episode while maintaining approved positioning.
General Responsibilities:
-Engaging in direct care and supervision of young adults with behavioral challenges
-Assisting clients with activities of daily living, including hygiene assistance
-Interacting, socializing and providing positive care for all clients
-Participating in all client's individual care plans
-Client charting and documentation
-Assisting with food preparation
-Providing client transportation
-Assisting with medication
-Ensuring safety of all clients
-Ensuring facility cleanliness
-Assisting with doctor’s appointments as needed

Additional Requirements:
-Strong work ethic with a proactive mindset
-Excellent interpersonal communication skills
-Strong safety awareness and protective instinct
-First aid and CPR certificate (may obtain after hire)
-DSP certification--must complete all DSP trainings within 1st year of hire for this position.
-HS diploma/GED
-Valid CA driver's license
-TB/health screening--We provide documentation for clinic
-Criminal background clearance--must pass, including no DUIs
-Reliable transportation
-Dependable, and able to consistently arrive on time
-Willingness to complete additional trainings as required
