JOB SUMMARY
The IT Infrastructure Analyst supports stability, performance, and continuous improvement of the City's technology environment. This role operates at the intersection of infrastructure operations and user-facing services, ensuring that systems, applications, and audiovisual (AV) technologies function reliably across all departments.
The position emphasizes operational awareness, vendor coordination, and proactive problem resolution, while contributing to infrastructure initiatives and maintaining a high standard of service delivery.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:
High school diploma or GED. 3 years of college study in computer science or 2 years extended training in IT field. Three years of experience in server hardware and OS support including LAN/WAN and server virtualization. CompTIA Network +, or comparable certificate as determined by the supervisor preferred.
Special Requirements:
- Experience in server virtualization, storage area networks, Active Directory, Microsoft Servers/Exchange/SQL/SMS, ESRI applications and other systems as
- A valid class "C" Texas driver's license or higher is required.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Working knowledge of virtualization platforms (VMware or similar).
- Broad understanding of infrastructure technologies, including networking, wireless, servers, storage (SAN), VoIP, and backup solutions.
- Familiarity with Active Directory, group policy, and Microsoft server environments.
- Understanding data protection, backup strategies, and basic disaster recovery concepts.
- Ability to use monitoring tools and system logs to identify issues and support system performance.
- Strong troubleshooting skills across infrastructure, endpoint, and application environments.
- Ability to support network and system operations, including switches, routers, wireless access points, and firewalls.
- Ability to create and maintain clear documentation, diagrams, and procedures.
- Ability to evaluate technologies and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and reliability.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to work effectively with technical staff, vendors, and City departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and contribute within a team environment.
- Ability to coordinate with vendors and support service delivery across multiple systems.
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation and respond to after-hours or emergency events as required.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is medium and requires the ability to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 30 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crawling, crouching, feeling, fingering, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motions, speaking, standing, stooping, visual acuity, and walking.
