We are looking for a Finance Manager to take ownership of a critical financial infrastructure project that directly impacts how AWS allocates billions in networking costs across services. You will lead the transition from legacy systems to a modern, accurate cost allocation model that serves as the foundation for AWS's financial operations and strategic decision-making. This is a highly visible position that offers the unique opportunity to work with senior business and finance leaders across the organization, developing solutions that directly impact AWS's financial efficiency and accuracy.
Your analytical expertise in financial modeling, communication skills, and technical proficiency in Excel and SQL will be essential as you partner with software development teams to implement the right methodology and ensure outputs align with expectations. If you're passionate about solving complex financial challenges, driving process improvements, and leveraging AI tools to automate planning and reporting processes, this role offers significant growth potential and visibility within the AWS organization.
Key job responsibilities
- Design and implement the cost allocation methodology for the Border Rate Card model, ensuring it accurately reflects networking infrastructure costs based on service usage patterns
- Collaborate with software development teams to translate the allocation methodology into functional systems and validate that outputs meet business requirements
- Consolidate and manage planning inputs from all border network layers, maintaining data integrity and consistency across the cost allocation process
- Identify and implement automation opportunities using AI tools to streamline planning and reporting workflows, reducing manual effort and accelerating rate card publication
- Develop clear and concise financial narratives and analyses that enable informed decision-making by business and finance leaders, articulating complex finance issues to non-finance senior leaders.
A day in the life
You'll be the single point of accountability for developing and maintaining the cost allocation methodology that determines how networking infrastructure expenses are distributed across AWS services. You'll spend your time designing the allocation framework, collaborating with software development teams to translate methodology into working systems, and ensuring outputs align with business expectations. You'll consolidate planning inputs from multiple border network layers, identify opportunities to streamline processes through automation and AI tools, and drive continuous improvements to increase accuracy and efficiency. Your work bridges financial strategy and technical implementation, requiring you to communicate complex cost models to technical and business stakeholders.
