Misfit Marketing is a boutique social-first creative agency based in New York. We work with founder-led consumer brands across food, hospitality, and CPG, helping them show up online in a way that feels real, not like a brand pretending to be cool.
We're looking for a freelance videographer based in NYC to jump in with us right away. We need a lot of bandwidth in May specifically, up to 20 hours per week or more, with shoots happening across the city. If things click, there's real potential to grow this into a retainer, part-time, or even full-time role down the line.
What you'll be shooting:
- Social-first content for Instagram and TikTok (vertical, fast-turn, native-feeling)
- Founder and brand storytelling pieces
- Restaurant and hospitality content (interiors, food, ambiance, guests)
- Product and CPG content
- Influencer events, dinners, openings, and brand activations
- A good amount of iPhone content too, not just camera shoots
- BTS and on-the-fly capture during shoot days
How you'll work with us: You'll be working closely with our editor and social media team, so you won't be operating in a vacuum. Expect clear direction on what we need, how we want it shot, and how it fits into the bigger content strategy for each client.
What we're looking for:
- Based in NYC and able to move around the city for shoots
- Comfortable shooting both planned content and run-and-gun event coverage
- Owns the basics gear-wise (camera, lenses, lighting, audio)
- Comfortable shooting iPhone content in addition to camera work
- Flexible with timing, including evenings and occasional weekends (a lot of hospitality content happens after hours)
- Sharp eye for food, hospitality, and lifestyle aesthetics
- Easy to work with on set, professional with clients, and reliable on timelines
- Bonus: editing experience (we already have an editor, but it's a plus)
- Bonus: active on social media, a content creator yourself, or have some social media experience
Logistics:
- Freelance and project-based to start, with up to 20+ hours per week of work in May
- Open to bringing the right person on retainer, part-time, or eventually full-time if it's a strong fit
- Hourly or retainer pricing depending on fit
