Job Summary and Qualifications
Responsible for the overall daily function/staffing of the Department. Manages all direct and indirect nursing care given to the patients within the GI Endoscopy Department to ensure optimal patient care.
Performs all procedures clinically as needed and on a routine basis. Assimilates appropriate data necessary for care of the patient and assesses the same for the staff
Generates Staff level performance appraisals; participates in appraisal process with Department Director and Clinical Coordinators.
Conducts thorough and complete orientation of all new employees, utilizing the hospital orientation plan and ensures all aspects are completed during the orientation process.
Assists with departmental PI program, outcomes management projects, other hospital, and corporate initiatives. Ensures Core Measures and Key Performance Indicator measures are being met.
Maintains statistical reports.
Pursues professional development to prepare for additional responsibilities and improve current job performance by participating in educational meetings. Independent study and maintaining appropriate certifications. Encourages continuous professional development from staff.
Performs all necessary actions to ensure the department meets standards as set by the The Joint Commission and other healthcare regulatory agencies.
Utilizes appropriate communication and interpersonal skills in dealing with patients, physicians, management and staff.
Demonstrates teamwork, flexibility and creative problem-solving skills when dealing with patients, physicians or other department managers and staff.
Education & Experience:
Associate’s Degree Nursing – Required
Registered Nurse - Currently licensed as a registered professional nurse in the state in which he or she practices, in accordance with law and regulation - Required
5+ years of experience in job-related specialty in which leadership & management abilities have been demonstrated – Required
1+ year Management experience in related field – Preferred
Has, or is currently enrolled in, degree program: Healthcare Management, BSN, BBA, BS-HCA – Preferred
