This position is advertised from the minimum to the maximum hourly rate. Salary will be determined based on education and experience at the time of offer.
Under general supervision, performs work of moderate difficulty installing, configuring, testing, and monitoring computer and communication systems, and associated peripheral devices. This position has department specific responsibility. Hours may vary (Monday – Saturday) depending on the needs of the Library District.
Installs, configures, tests, and monitors stand-alone and networked computer systems, associated peripheral devices and data communication systems; responsible for monitoring the data privacy software on the public computers and take corrective action, when needed; installs and configure RFID scanning devices and program bar codes scanners; assists users with procedures, configuration, and use of desktop and laptop computers, printers, telephones, and related peripheral devices; maintains proper documentation of service repair tickets; troubleshoots and resolves complicated issues within the Main Library and branches; services and repairs electronic equipment (e.g. laminators, microfiche readers, 3D printer, conveyer belts, etc.);inspects and performs cable management on all equipment and proper power strip usage and installation. assists with the inventory and documentation of computer hardware; maintains proper documentation of service repair tickets; research implementation of new technologies and analyze alternative costs; performs fault detection and fault isolation tests. monitors systems to ensure optimum use and performance; manages the cloud-based email user accounts and groups through the Admin Console; creates procedures and batch script files to integrate automation processes that handle software installations and modifications on computers; notifies users of system problems, initiates corrective action, and performs follow up to ensure proper resolution; sets up and tests computer configurations, operating systems, and system software upgrades; modifies system configurations based on user requirements; analyzes and resolves performance problems involving the operating system and associated hardware; assists in the performance of system administration on local and wide-area file server and peer-to-peer networks, mid-range and file server systems, local and wide-area file server networks; travels to library branches within the Yuma County area; prepare equipment for Auction, removal of HDD and wiping, to inspections of used equipment ready to be sold; sanitize, schedule, ship, and track loaned digital devices to staff; use Extron Room Agent software to configure equipment to distribute AV signals to multiple meeting rooms scheduled throughout the day; setup audiovisual equipment for special outdoor events; setup video conferences and conference calls; install and service indoor and outdoor security cameras; regular and reliable attendance is required; performs other duties as assigned.
Twenty (20) semester hours of post high school work in computer science, management information systems, or equivalent technical training; AND two (2) years of experience in technical support of computer systems, networks, and related equipment; familiarity with mid-range, file server, data communications systems, and peer-to-peer networks is preferred; familiarity with NOVELL NetWare and Group Wise e-mail are preferred; A+ certification is preferred; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience; requires a successful completion of a background check. Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver’s license.
Knowledge of County policies and procedures; computer hardware and software use, installation, and configuration; techniques for setting up and testing PC operating and data communication systems; operation, maintenance and performance capabilities of hardware, software, mid-range, file server, PC operating systems and data communication systems and networks; security systems procedures and access controls; telecommunication equipment and peripheral devices; installation of network clients and attachment to network infrastructure.
Skill in operating and maintaining computer and communication systems, and related peripheral equipment and devices; comprehending technically complex verbal and written instructions; effective customer-oriented service techniques; installing, configuring and testing system and application-level software and upgrades.; analyzing hardware and software related malfunctions and determining effective solutions; remote assistance to network management staff in resolution of network issues.
Ability to effectively respond to phone calls, emails and complaints in a timely manner; plan, prioritizes, manages and responds to multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment; in planning and organizing work; use modern office equipment and computers; communicate effectively verbally and written; lift up to 5 – 25 lbs. perform the essential functions of the job specifications with or without a reasonable accommodation.
