Our client, a nationally recognized nonprofit organization is looking for a strategic and experienced technology leader to serve as Vice President, Information Technology Operations.
This organization operates a broad network of service locations and community-based programs across the United States and is widely recognized for its commitment to providing high-quality care, education, and resources that help individuals make informed decisions about their health and wellbeing.
The Vice President, Information Technology Operationswill report directly to the Chief Information Officer and will provide enterprise-level leadership across infrastructure engineering, IT operations, and end-user services. This role is responsible for ensuring the stability, scalability, and security of the organization’s technology environment while aligning infrastructure strategy with broader organizational priorities.
This leader will oversee the design, implementation, and ongoing management of the technology infrastructure that supports critical business operations. The role requires a strong operational mindset combined with strategic planning capabilities to maintain highly reliable systems and ensure consistent delivery against stringent service availability targets.
Responsibilities
- Lead the overall strategy and execution of enterprise infrastructure and operations, continually improving capabilities, processes, and operational maturity across the technology organization.
- Oversee the architecture, deployment, and ongoing management of the organization’s infrastructure environment to ensure systems are secure, scalable, and capable of supporting evolving business requirements.
- Establish and monitor operational performance metrics and key performance indicators to ensure infrastructure health, system performance, cost efficiency, and compliance objectives are consistently met.
- Drive the organization’s infrastructure roadmap in alignment with long-term strategic technology priorities and business objectives.
- Ensure critical systems meet high availability and performance expectations, including strict service level agreements for uptime and operational reliability.
- Direct the implementation and maintenance of enterprise infrastructure solutions and ensure technology changes are executed in accordance with operational standards and service expectations.
- Collaborate with security leadership and other senior stakeholders to implement secure technology architectures that comply with regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and industry best practices.
- Lead initiatives related to infrastructure modernization, including cloud adoption, automation, and operational efficiency improvements.
- Oversee enterprise IT service management functions including incident management, request management, capacity planning, change control, and critical incident response.
- Manage complex technology vendor relationships and outsourced service providers, including managed services, cloud providers, and IT service management partners.
- Participate in vendor governance processes such as quarterly business reviews and performance evaluations while providing strategic direction and feedback to service providers.
- Partner with internal governance teams to establish infrastructure standards, operational controls, and continuous improvement initiatives across the IT organization.
- Provide leadership for infrastructure-related initiatives including office technology deployments, network architecture (WAN / LAN), and enterprise communication platforms.
- Ensure technology initiatives and infrastructure projects are delivered successfully through close collaboration with business stakeholders and cross-functional technology teams.
- Oversee financial management for infrastructure operations including budgeting, forecasting, contract management, and multi-year strategic planning.
- Build and lead a high-performing infrastructure and operations organization while fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
- Encourage diverse perspectives, inclusive leadership practices, and strong team engagement across the technology organization.
- Promote strong collaboration between infrastructure teams, DevOps functions, and end-user support organizations to improve operational efficiency through automation and process optimization.
- Develop trusted partnerships with senior leaders across the organization to ensure technology investments and infrastructure priorities align with evolving business needs.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent experience).
- Minimum of 10 years of experience leading enterprise technology operations, infrastructure engineering, or IT service organizations.
- At least 10 years of experience managing and developing technology teams.
- Strong understanding of project and program management principles within complex technology environments.
- Demonstrated success operating a modern IT organization that incorporates DevOps practices and operational automation.
- Experience implementing and managing IT Service Management (ITSM) frameworks and aligning processes across service delivery functions.
- Proven ability to translate business objectives into effective technology solutions and infrastructure strategies.
- Experience leading large-scale cloud transformation initiatives using platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Strong financial and vendor management expertise, including infrastructure budgeting, forecasting, contract management, and long-term technology planning.
- Executive-level communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders and collaborate effectively with senior leadership.
