Major Responsibilities
- Maintains, analyzes, installs, troubleshoots, and repairs computer systems hardware and computer peripherals. Works with hardware vendors for repair and maintenance of computer and peripheral equipment that is in manufacturer’s warranty.
- Maintains, analyzes, installs, and troubleshoots application software, which includes working with vendors for installation and troubleshooting situations.
- Maintains, analyzes, installs and troubleshoots operating systems used by MCCG and has a basic knowledge of most of those systems.
- Works closely with other information services departments and vendors to resolve wiring, networking, software and hardware issues, including software applications, and operating systems.
- Documents changes found in hardware and software procedures that need to be reviewed.
- Performs tasks with direct or indirect supervision.
- Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform functions of the job.
- Familiar with commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within a particular field.
Licensure, Registration, And/or Certification Required
- A+ certification or equivalent preferred.
Education Required
- High school diploma or GED and technical training.
Experience Required
- Minimum one year experience in installation and maintenance/repair of personal computers, peripherals, and associated software. Associate’s degree or technical training may substitute for experience.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required
- Functional understanding of the principles of electronics and electronic troubleshooting and ability to understand the relationship and compatibility of various computer system components and operating standards.
Physical Requirements And Working Conditions
- Must be able to use visual near and distance acuity. Must have verbal ability to communicate in person and over the phone or radio. Must be able to assist co-workers in transfers and transport supplies, patients/residents, or equipment using good body mechanics. Must have functional range of motion of the cervical, thoracic and lumbar spines, upper and lower extremities with a grip strength of 60-80 pounds, specific to the job class evaluation. Must be able to forward reach, overhead reach, bend, squat, kneel and change from one position to the other rapidly. Must be able to lift 25-60 lbs. and carry 25-50 pounds specific to job class evaluation. Must be able to tolerate high noise, busy atmospheres and noxious odors. Must be able to work in noisy environments and be self directed to complete jobs as ordered. Must be able to remain calm under stressful situations. Must be able to assess and respond to multiple situations simultaneously. Must be able to assist co-workers in multiple overlapping tasks simultaneously. Must be able to prioritize job tasks and organize work space to be efficient and conducive to completing work tasks as assigned in a timely manner. If job class is identified as falling under POPE C, the individual must pass the cardiac recovery test.
- Works in hospital and clinical environments. May work in extreme heat with hot materials. Must be able to utilize appropriate universal and specific precautions for protection from potential exposure to infectious or communicable diseases.
