Description
The IT Specialist serves as the primary point of contact for day-to-day technology needs at Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania. This role ensures staff have reliable, secure access to systems and tools, coordinates closely with the Council’s managed service provider (MSP), and supports staff through onboarding, offboarding, and ongoing technical assistance. The IT Specialist assists with driving innovation regarding the utilization of business systems, data management, and data analysis in support of the organization’s goals and initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with the Council’s managed service provider (MSP), coordinating support requests, system changes, and escalations as needed.
- Provide timely troubleshooting and technical support to staff for hardware, software, network, and mobile device issues.
- Coordinate technology onboarding for new employees, including device setup, system access, and basic orientation to Council tools.
- Manage offboarding processes to ensure timely removal of system access, device recovery, and data security.
- Develop and deliver user training and clear technical documentation to educate employees on IT systems and best practices, while providing accessible resources for self-service troubleshooting.
- Provision and manage user access to required systems and platforms in accordance with organizational policies and security best practices.
- Assist Director of Operations with permission reviews and access audits as needed.
- Manage the Council’s company-owned cell phones, including ordering, setup, upgrades, troubleshooting, inventory tracking, and carrier coordination.
- Coordinate hardware lifecycle management, including replacements and surplus/disposal in alignment with policy.
- As part of the data team, collect, summarize, and analyze reports, reporting, system integrations, and basic analysis.
- Support staff in using data tools and systems effectively to inform programs, operations, and decision-making.
- Serve as a subject matter expert for the business intelligence tools, such as Looker, to help staff access, analyze, and visualize business data.
- Provide professional, quality customer service to internal customers – GSHPA employees.
- Handle confidential information with integrity and discretion.
- Demonstrate commitment to the Girl Scout mission by representing GSHPA in a positive and professional manner.
- Performs other duties as assigned in support of council-wide initiatives and/or cross-functional teams to further the mission of GSHPA.
Requirements
- Two to three years of experience in IT field; college degree preferred.
- Experience providing hands-on technical support in a professional environment.
- Strong customer service mindset with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to multitask.
- Highly proficient in Microsoft365, including SharePoint, OneDrive and virtual meeting platforms.
- Experience with mobile device management and basic hardware maintenance.
- Comfort working with data systems, reports, and basic analytics.
- Ability to problem solve and troubleshoot issues in real time.
- Strong understanding of confidentiality and data security.
- Ability to work with individuals of diverse background and ages in a professional manner.
- Can adapt well to changing circumstances, direction, and strategy.
- Able to work a flexible schedule, to include nights and weekends, as needed.
- Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license; access to reliable transportation required.
- Can travel throughout the council, as needed.
- Can lift/carry 40 pounds.
- Can sit, stand or walk for a moderate period of time, as required.
