Job Description for Onsite Engineer Role
The Onsite IT Support Engineer provides critical technical support to endusers directly at their physical locations This role is responsible for diagnosing troubleshooting and resolving hardware software and network issues ensuring seamless operation of IT systems and infrastructure They play a vital role in maintaining a productive and efficient working environment by addressing technical challenges promptly and effectively
Responsibilities
- Provide direct technical support
- Respond to service tickets and requests for technical assistance via phone email or inperson
- Diagnose and resolve firstlevel issues related to workstations laptops operating systems Windows macOS Linux software applications printers scanners and other peripherals
- Troubleshoot network connectivity issues LANWAN VPN WiFi
- Assist with user account management and access permissions
- Hardware and software management
- Install configure and upgrade computer hardware and software
- Maintain hardware and software inventory
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on IT equipment
- Network maintenance and security
- Monitor and maintain computer networks and servers
- Apply firewall policies and multifactor authentication MFA to secure networks
- Assist with cybersecurity incident response and educate employees on best practices
- Documentation and reporting
- Log and track support requests using a problem management database
- Maintain accurate records of issues and resolutions
- Prepare and submit regular reports on IT support activities
- Training and user education
- Provide oneonone and group training to users on hardware software and IT policies
- Develop and update training materials and knowledge base articles
- Teamwork and collaboration
- Work closely with other IT team members escalating complex issues to higher levels of support Tier 23 when necessary
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers to ensure timely resolution of issues
