Summary
The purpose of this position is to manage technology and communications within the Information Technology Department. This is accomplished by managing servers, databases network security and technology infrastructure. Under limited supervision, performs complex computer maintenance tasks to support the Information Technology Department computer systems, including an Ethernet network, and internet access.Responsibilities
- Manages data by backing up databases; creating user accounts; maintaining network security.
- Serves as a resource for other County departments.
- Assist and Administers vendor contracts while following Information Technology policies and procedures.
- Assists in routine activities related to implementation, configuration, coordination, control, maintenance, troubleshooting, security, and usage monitoring of the networked environment.
- Reviews strategic planning objectives and benchmarking.
- Reviews performance measures.
- Assures the services delivered by the Information Technology meet quality and timeliness standards.
- Prepares statistical reports.
- Maintains safety and security of section.
- Effectively manages time and prioritizes efforts.
- Monitors the network for performance problems.
- Performs hardware repairs and replaces components.
- Installs computer systems and equipment, including hardware, software, and wiring.
- Diagnoses and remedies software and hardware problems.
- Performs extensive systems analysis to determine efficient information processing methods and customize software for user departments.
- Tracks and conducts inventory of vendor supplied service parts for equipment under repair.
- Order parts as necessary and exercises Information Technology policies and procedures.
- Follows IT established policies regarding the safekeeping and security of equipment under repair, departmental equipment and parts.
- Triages trouble calls/emails and coordinates with other IT personnel as required to ensure prompt resolution of problems.
- Installs and supports several different software programs and the hardware for Information Technology.
- Tests software to support new upgrade conversion process.
- Supports software installed on PC's, ensures license agreements are up to date, and coordinates with proper record keeping IT personnel for removal of software that is not properly licensed or has outdated licenses.
- Analyzes and recommends upgrades to software.
- Performs other duties as assigned.Education and/or Experience
- Two year's technical training in the area of computer science,
- Three years’ experience in computer science applications including hardware, software, and networking
- Or any equivalent combination of experience and trainingQualifications, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
- Valid Texas Driver’s License
