Position Overview
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Desktop Engineer for our client. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in maintaining and improving IT infrastructure by providing comprehensive support for end-user devices, systems, and services. You’ll also contribute to infrastructure administration, patch and vulnerability management, and support operations at contract locations, including DoD sites.
This role requires hands-on expertise with modern endpoint management tools such as MECM and Intune, scripting (PowerShell, Python), and enterprise platforms including M365 and Azure. Candidate should have ideally worked as part of a team to establish something like Microsoft Autopilot in a previous role. We’re looking for someone that can lead in terms of this work and take point on making significant organizational changes.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Support & Troubleshooting
- Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and network issues.
- Respond to user requests via the Service Desk and ITSM platform.
- Handle Tier 1 and Tier 2 escalations and collaborate with other teams as needed.
Configuration & Device Management
- Manage IT assets across the lifecycle: provisioning, maintenance, deprovisioning.
- Implement scalable configuration management platforms.
- Participate in patch and vulnerability management programs.
On-Site & Field Support
- Support contract site operations, including at DoD locations (domestic and abroad).
- Deploy hardware/software and assist with transitioning services from incumbent providers.
Infrastructure Administration
- Assist with M365, Azure, and other systems.
- Support networking equipment, firewalls, and software-defined networking tasks.
Security & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with NIST 800-171 standards.
- Perform security assessments and address vulnerabilities.
Documentation & Training
- Create and maintain support documentation.
- Provide end-user training and support on technologies.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, or equivalent work experience.
- 3+ years in an Information Technology role.
- CompTIA Security+ (or equivalent DoD 8140 Intermediate cert), or the ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.
- Valid U.S. Passport (within 6 months of hire).
- Ability to gain access to U.S. DoD sites and facilities.
- Proficiency with:
- Windows OS and Dell hardware
- M365 (SharePoint, OneDrive, Exchange)
- MECM and Intune
- PowerShell, Python, or similar scripting tools
- Network fundamentals (e.g., subnetting, DNS)
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
