Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; This position is subject to averaging of hours. May be required to work weekends, holidays, and off-hours for projects, maintenance and support.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Director, provides technical expertise for the functioning of enterprise applications and infrastructure services in support of college-wide operations. Researches and provides specifications and possible solutions to enterprise applications and critical infrastructure services. Leads and supports troubleshooting of issues of all severity related to performance, availability and security vulnerability.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Enterprise System Administration
Leads, supports, and coordinates (including escalation) college support tasks related to enterprise and infrastructure application technologies
Supports the college’s application and administrative needs
Administers email servers, including Exchange, antispam, and antivirus systems
Manages VMware servers and servers/services related to the College’s backup and restore needs
Administers shared storage services and assists with provisioning new or expanded storage
Acts as the College lead for Freedom of Information (FOI) requests related to email and shared storage locations
Project Coordination & Solution Development
Assesses customer needs and recommends viable solutions
Develops and implements (or coordinates implementation of) approved projects
Liaises with other ITS teams and external departments to coordinate project efforts and ensure success
Planning and Implementation
Assists in planning and implementing projects that enhance college-wide IT infrastructure and services
Actively participates as a member of the NS&CO Team for Networks and Infrastructure
Reviews emerging technologies related to enterprise applications and infrastructure
Liaises with vendor representatives to assess products and services against college requirements
Mentorship
Provides leadership and mentorship to co-op students as part of regular duties
Allocates additional time for administrative aspects of co-op placements (e.g., assimilation, evaluation)
Qualifications:
3 year diploma/degree in Computer Science, IT Operations, Information Systems, Computer Systems Technology or related field
5 years experience providing technical support for enterprise applications, and dependent technologies, particularly MS Exchange and VMware as well as enterprise Backup/Restore technology and enterprise storage systems
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
Ability to troubleshoot and triage, escalating to appropriate technology specialists as required
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication skills (both verbal and written)
Demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and implement projects
