IT Support Specialist (Part-Time)
Location: Hybrid – Kirkland, WA (1 onsite day/week)
Schedule: 16–24 hours/week | Flexible based on academic schedule
About the Role
I work with a Security and Investigations client who is seeking a part-time IT Support Specialist to provide high-quality technical support within a fast-growing and security-focused organization. This role is ideal for a college student or early-career professional passionate about IT, TechOps, or Cybersecurity, and looking to gain hands-on experience supporting end users in a modern, Apple-based environment.
Role Scope & Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide Tier 1–2 technical support primarily for macOS and iOS environments.
- Manage and resolve tickets through InDesk or other ticketing systems, maintaining clear documentation.
- Administer Google Workspace accounts, devices, and permissions.
- Support mobile device management (MDM) through JAMF (for Apple) and Intune (for Windows virtual environments).
- Handle basic inventory management for IT assets.
- Ensure adherence to security and privacy best practices, prioritizing compliance over customer convenience when necessary.
- Collaborate closely with IT, Security, and Operations teams to maintain efficient workflows.
Typical Ticket Volume:
- Average: ~5 tickets per day
- Peak days: ~25 tickets
- Light days: ~1 ticket
Expected Challenges
- They are in a growth and change phase, which means responsibilities can evolve and require adaptability.
- The initial learning curve may feel steep; however, all training and support will be provided.
- Training ramp-up: ~90 days to get comfortable
- Full mastery: ~6 months
Systems & Tools
- Operating Systems: macOS and iOS (exclusive focus)
- Ticketing: InDesk or equivalent platform
- MDM: JAMF (Apple), Intune (Windows virtual environments)
- Collaboration: Google Workspace
- Networking: Basic understanding of networking concepts and stacks
- Optional: Command-line or scripting familiarity
Qualifications
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; able to interact professionally with all levels of staff.
- Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting ability.
- Interest in IT, TechOps, or Cybersecurity.
- Familiarity with ISO frameworks (ISO 27001, 27701, etc.) a plus but not required.
Schedule & Availability
- Hours: 16–24 hours per week
- On-site Requirement: One on-site day per week at Kirkland office (4–8 hours)
- Flexibility: Schedule can vary per academic term with advance notice; accommodations provided during exam weeks.
- Other Employment: Permitted, provided no conflict of interest and availability commitments are met.
