The BAE Systems site at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant is seeking a Senior Quality Engineer to support the Solventless Value Stream. In this role as an Quality Engineer, you will help advance the mission of driving a continuous improvement culture at the Radford Army Ammunition Plant. You'll use your expertise and background to foster and nurture a positive environment supporting continuous improvement efforts with a growth mindset. Using lean tools such as value stream mapping, 5 Why, A-3, and Six Sigma, you'll work with cross functional teams to drive improvement.
In this role as a Quality Engineer, you will:
- Develop project plans and roadmaps that align with business goals;
- Lead and facilitate improvement projects;
- Analyze data to identify opportunities for improvement within processes;
- Monitor performance metrics to identify areas of concern and trends;
- Facilitate cross-functional teams to drive process improvement events;
- Serve as the technical quality lead for process and product.
Required Skills and Education- Typically requires a Bachelors Degree in a STEM discipline and four years related experience;
- Experience within a manufacturing / production environment;
- Strong data analytics skills;
- Experience with Lean tools such as Value stream mapping, 5 Why, and A-3;
- Working experience using visual boards, metrics, root cause analysis, etc.;
- Ability and willingness to challenge convention and the status quo to foster continuous improvement efforts;
- Mechanical aptitude;
- Excellent communication skills, written and verbal, to successfully deliver and share information and training;
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team;
- Computer skills to include MS Office and industry-related software.

Preferred Skills and Education- DOD Manufacturing experience;
- Bachelors in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering;
- Six Sigma certification a plus;
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer a plus.
