Nurse Director I, MH21
The Nursing Director is an executive leader for the facility. Reporting to the Center Director at the O'Berry Neuro-Medical Treatment Center (OBNMTC), this position is responsible for Nursing Department operations of the facility including budget, staffing, and directing the provision and integration of services to the people living at OBNTC. Our focus is to provide those who are medically-complex, or behaviorally challenged with skilled and compassionate healthcare and supportive services in a homelike environment. While responsibilities for this position are primarily administrative in nature, to be effective, technical knowledge of complex neuro-cognitive disorders and organizational operations within a Skilled Nursing or residential facility are necessary.
***Per G.S. 126-5(c1) (37), this position is Exempt from all provisions of NC General Statute Chapter 126 (State Human Resources Act) with the exception of Articles 6 and 7.***

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities / Competencies - Considerable knowledge of professional nursing theory, techniques, practices and procedures.
- Proven ability to provide leadership, establish goals, set priorities, arbitrate disputes, seek quality assurance opportunities, and develop a positive atmosphere of belonging in which staff can develop and achieve excellence in their respective roles.
- Considerable knowledge of state and federal rules and regulations and accrediting agencies governing operations to ensure nursing services rendered upholds compliance requirements.
- Demonstrated ability to lead facility initiatives based on best practice in standard of care with a focus on the health, safety, and quality of life.
- Demonstrated supervisory skills to independently assess, analyze, plan, direct, implement and evaluate delivery of clinical, budgetary, and human resources in a medical setting, while ensuring that the facility meets/maintains regulatory requirements.
- Ability to drive results by participating in program planning, policy-making, and the development of nursing standards and procedures.
- Proficient in a collaborative approach to engage facility stakeholders, families, guardians, community stakeholders and other agencies to achieve organizational excellence.
Management Preferences:
- Working knowledge of the N.C. Nurse Practice Act regarding the scope of practice for each patient care team member and the Board of Nursing's rules and position statements/ interpretations.
- Technical knowledge of complex neuro-cognitive disorders and organizational operations within a Skilled Nursing or residential facility.
- Demonstrated nursing supervisor leadership in a medical setting where 100+ staff, either indirectly or directly, are managed to provide continuity of nursing care to medically complex populations.
