SALARY RANGE $128,000-$160,000 (D. O. E.)
JOB SUMMARY:Under the direction of the City Engineer, the Assistant City Engineer (ACE) manages the regulatory activities and responsibilities of the Engineering division. The ACE ensures that technical reviews are consistent with the City's adopted master plans and policies. This includes reviewing plat maps and plans for public improvements built by the private sector, overseeing master-planned developments, and inspecting private construction projects. The ACE is also responsible for maintaining the city's standards and specifications and overseeing the Neighborhood Streets First Committee.
TYPICAL DUTIES: - Administers and provides technical expertise in the review of plans for private-sector-built public improvements and plat maps; applies conditions of approval for the Planning Commission and any City Council decisions to the plans for the construction of private projects, using professional judgment in interpreting such conditions.
- Supervises the Staff Engineer and coordinates plan reviews and comments with the assigned staff planner and other affected departments, such as Public Works; represents the City Engineer on private-sector development projects; enforces conditions of project approval.
- Administers the City's Neighborhoods First - Streets program, a community-based approach to applying traffic calming solutions within a neighborhood. Coordinates, reviews, and approves submitted citizen applications; conducts committee meetings; manages any projects that result from citizens' requests.
- Meets and interacts with residents and community members to provide guidance for City processes and promote the Neighborhoods First - Streets Program.
- Writes and executes contracts for work being performed within the right-of-way and new work which will be conveyed to City ownership; ensures work is performed following City code and standards and facilitate acceptance processes and bond management.
- Supervises and provides technical assistance for monitoring the installation of communication utilities within Park City
- Issues permits for utility work within rights-of-way or easements; inspects utility activities to protect the interests of Park City and its residents.
- Assists the City Engineer with managing the Old Town Streets and Utilities Master Plan and its related projects, as well as other public capital projects.
- Supervises the consulting inspectors, Staff Engineer, and the Public Improvements Inspector as necessary to attempt to achieve the optimum degree of quality in the constructed project subject to the constraints of budgets and state-of-the-art construction techniques.
- Assists with preparing the departmental budgets and participate in the discussions and negotiations surrounding the adoption of the general budget for Park City.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a closely related field.
- Registration as a Professional Engineer in Utah
- 5 or more years of experience in civil design, project management, budgeting, construction, and management of heavy civil construction projects.
- Valid state driver's license.
