Ciao, Gloria is a neighborhood coffee shop, bakery and cafe in Prospect Heights, Brooklyn.
We offer amazing coffee, a fantastic savory menu, delicious morning baked goods and pastries, and a sweets menu of classic treats, all with an Italian twist.
We are looking for an experienced and dedicated prep cook to be a part of our team. Our savory menu includes items like egg dishes, breakfast sandwiches, afternoon sandwiches, seasonal grain bowls, salads, and toasts, all served fresh from our kitchen.
This position is full time, and pay is dependent on the qualifications and availability of the candidate. Candidate must be able to work afternoon/evening prep shifts and must be able to work on weekends.
Primary Areas of Responsibility:
Product knowledge
Follows recipes, portion controls, pars, and presentation specifics
Maintains a clean, safe and well-stocked workstation, kitchen area, storage area and walk-in
Uses / maintains all equipment in station properly
Assists with ordering and inventory
Skills and Requirements:
Willingness to work after hour late afternoon prep shifts
Afternoon shifts will include food prep, roasting/cooking of meats, vegetables, grains.
Proximity to bakery / cafe in the Prospect Heights neighborhood and / or a willingness to commute
Excitement and willingness to learn new dishes and recipes
Ability to work in a fast paced environment, both independently as well as a team
Plating and presentation technique
Food handler certified by NYC DOH or willing to get certified
Willingness to work daytime line shifts when needed
